Die Isle of Portland ist ein 6,4 km langer und 2,4 km breiter Kalkstein-Felsen im Ärmelkanal. Sie liegt nahe Weymouth in Dorset und gehört zum Verwaltungsbezirk Weymouth and Portland

In March I made my first trip to Portland!! This was 90% a business trip - but the schedule allowed a bit of walking time outside of Grassroots Outdoor Alliance/vendor meetings. The number of cyclists in downtown was inspiring and even in the rain I enjoyed walking around the city.

Life at Portland Head Light was quite different from the popular image of the solitary lighthouse keeper. Constant tourists were a way of life. When Earle Benson was keeper in the 1950s, a woman walked right into the keeper's house and sat at the kitchen table. The woman insisted that Benson and his wife were government employees, and she demanded service.

Our last day in Portland, we didn't do anything particularly special. We had been driving all over northern Oregon that we decided to take a break and take it easy before we flew back to Salt Lake the next day. So, we spent the majority of our time at our hotel and the surrounding area. And, we also went to a park nearby and rented a paddleboat for an hour. It was a good vacation.

Haven't been able to get out much these days. Celebrating my 50th early, my family took me here. They knew I needed some therapy....

Portland Head Light is a historic lighthouse in Cape Elizabeth, Maine. The light station sits on a head of land at the entrance of the primary shipping channel into Portland Harbor, which is within Casco Bay in the Gulf of Maine.
