BEH... per farla breve.. Sono entrati dei ladri in casa mia. Hanno messo tutto sotto sopra, ma per fortuna non hanno preso niente, il mio schermo nuovo 40 pollici, nessun dvd... neanche il portatile o il monitor piatto... niente proprio... almeno cosi sembrava...
e quando sono arrivati i poliziotti, mi hanno detto che è normale, sono dei ragazzini zingari che cercano o soldi o gioelli!!!

e dopo rimettendo tutto apposto mi sono accorto che se li sono portato via due dei miei cofanetti dvd SIMPSON stagione sei e sette. hanno lasciato le custodie pero! che carini!

I got back home this evening after a long day of hard work. and i get to the entrance and this is what i see:
#1: they have broken the door open. all the lights inside were turned on.
#2: in the living room they had opened the top and the bottom drawers where i keep all my dvd's. at first it looked like they didnt take anything...which was a big surprise. my new flatscreen tv, my new flatscreen tv and the dvd player and the surround system, everything was there
#:my bed room was a mess. But my laptop, which is the first thing you see when you get in to the bedroom was untouched, and they didnt even take my new flatscreen monitor (which hurt my feelings cause its very expensive.lol) they had opened all the drawers and pulled out everything..all my clothes and thrown everything around.. all me boxers and sox, of which im not gonna put pictures of here. lol anyways...i carefully looked around and realized nothing was stolen.i called the cops, they came over and did their thing and told me that it was probably some gypsies, especially kids, they break in to houses and take any money or jewellery that they can find, and leave everything else behind. lucky me.
#3:later on while cleaning and putting everything back in place i notice... the sons of bitches didnt touch any of my dvd's.. and as you can see i have hundreds of them, they didnt take any,
#4 except for the two THE COMPLETE SIMPSON season six, and season seven dvd boxes. and they left me the covers of the dvd boxes. that pisses me off even more.
God damn it, pissed me off, and im still pissed. I hope i dont find out that they took anything else.

A swimming pool, swimming bath, wading pool, or simply a pool, is an artificially enclosed body of water intended for swimming or water-based recreation. There are many standard sizes; the largest and deepest is the Olympic size. A pool can be built either above or in the ground, and from materials such as metal, plastic or concrete.
The "great bath" at the site of Mohenjo-Daro was most likely dug during the 3rd millennium BC. This pool is 12 by 7 meters, is lined with bricks and was covered with a tar-based sealant.
Ancient Greeks and Romans built artificial pools for athletic training in the palaestras, for nautical games and for military exercises. Roman emperors had private swimming pools in which fish were also kept, hence the Latin word for pool, piscina. The first heated swimming pool was built by Gaius Maecenas of Rome in the first century BC. Gaius Maecenas was a rich Roman lord and considered one of the first patrons of arts.
Ancient Sinhalese built pairs of pools called "Kuttam Pokuna" in the kingdom of Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka in 4th century BC. Those were decorated with flights of steps, punkalas or pots of abundance and scroll design.
Swimming pools became popular in Britain in the mid 19th century. By 1837, six indoor pools with diving boards were built in London, England. Una piscina es una construcción destinada a retener agua y poder practicar el baño o la natación, en lugares donde no existan condiciones naturales propicias para ello.
La palabra piscina viene del latín y originalmente se utilizaba para designar pozos para peces de agua dulce o salada. También se utilizó para designar los depósitos de agua conectados a los acueductos. Los primeros cristianos utilizaron la palabra piscina para designar la pila bautismal. En algunos países, particularmente México, se utiliza la palabra alberca, de origen árabe, en vez de piscina. En otros, como Argentina y Uruguay, se la denomina pileta.
Existe una larga tradición de construcciones artificiales dedicadas al baño, entre las que destacan los numerosos yacimientos de termas romanas, como los encontrados en la ciudad inglesa de Bath, a la que dan nombre.

Sus usos deportivos son muy variados, utilizándose en el campo de la natación, el waterpolo, la natación sincronizada o los saltos.

...E per concludere questa nostalgica carrellata fotografica sul mio vecchio Olivetti Echos 46, il mio primo computer portatile professionale attualmente parcheggiato fra i monti (...) là, dove nessun modem è mai giunto prima (...), non posso esimermi dal mostrarvi una pregevolissima opera artistico/ingegneristica interamente (e pazientemente) realizzata con Corel Draw 4... Si tratta nientepopodimeno che del progetto originario della USS Pacifika (ncc 180186)! Bèccati questa, Scotty! :-)

La "grotta delle meraviglie”.
Chiunque si trovi in Borgo Pio e voglia acquistare sigari o sigarette, dimentichi la fretta o gli appuntamenti da rispettare: nella tabaccheria Bianchini si sa quando si entra, ma non si sa quando se ne uscirà (lo confermo anch'io!!!).
La rivendita è un salto indietro nel tempo: un autentico negozio di 200 anni fa nella struttura e negli arredi, ma soprattutto un vero e proprio museo dell’oggettistica antica che fa bella mostra di sé nei tavoli, nelle vetrine, negli scaffali. Praticamente impossibile non indugiare tra libri d’epoca, registratori di cassa del primo ‘900, fonografi, macchine fotografiche a soffietto, pennini, vecchie cartoline e carte da gioco, dischi in vinile, collezioni di giornali, documenti antichi, rari accendini e scatole di latta di sigari e tabacco, bottiglie uniche dalle forme irregolari rigorosamente fatte a mano.
Maurizio Bianchini è riuscito a coniugare il proprio lavoro con la sua passione più grande: quella per le cose antiche. Passione che proprio il suo negozio ha contribuito ad arricchire schiudendo quella che potremmo chiamare la “grotta delle meraviglie”. Infatti, prima di diventare luogo di commercio dei generi di Monopolio, il piano terra e il sottopiano, oggi proprietà di Bianchini, fungevano già da luogo di commercio come spaccio vaticano. E tante merci devono essere passate di qui, se molti degli oggetti esposti sono stati rinvenuti proprio nella grotta sottostante. E’ orgoglioso, il signor Bianchini, del suo negozio: lo si capisce da come ci descrive una rarissima macchina da scrivere inglese del 1890 costruita in soli cinque esemplari perché risultò scomoda per la singolare disposizione dei martelletti, o da come parla della intera collezione dell’anno 1899 de “La Domenica del Corriere”.
La Tabaccheria Bianchini non poteva non far parte dell’Associazione Negozi Storici di Roma, associazione riconosciuta dal Comune capitolino che intende difendere e valorizzare quei negozi che, con la loro storia centenaria e il loro radicamento nel tessuto storico della città, siano stati e continuino ad essere una testimonianza di storia e cultura.
One of the most frequent questions asked to me during my online photo courses is whether it is better to use a flash or a continuous light.
Usually I shoot my still life photos in continuous light, to have an immediate visual control on shades, reflections, etc., so this time I decided to make a shot "a la strobiste".
To have this ugly, uneven light with a lot of sharp shadows I used:
- on the left, a Pentax AF 400 T at 1/25 power (guide number must be 8, according to the manual) at 70 cm;
- on the right, a Philips P32 GTC at 1/4 power (it must have guide number 8, too) at 60 cm, with a kitchen paper diffuser in front of it.
Both the flashes (hammer head type) are mounted on cheap tripods, half a meter higher than the lemons.
To trigger them I used:
- a Chinese radio remote bought on eBay;
- a "1 PC sync male - 2 PC sync females + hot shoe" adapter, bought on eBay, plugged into the remote outlet.
The flash cables, totally stretched, allow me to have 120 cm between the flashes.
The photo is made with a SMC Pentax M 50/1.7 @ f:22... just because the aperture stops there, and I ran out of cable to place farther the flashes.
Some considerations
* Direct naked flash light is ugly, too sharp. Better to use a diffuser or even a sort of "bank" or "lightbox" or whatever it is called by marketroids.
* Flashes are too powerful, and will require more distance from the subject. This means to have a lot of available space to place them in the correct place, at least a couple of meters on each side of the subject, and higher supports (over 2 meters, if you don't want to take your photo on the floor, that is uncomfortable for focusing).
* The lack of a modeling light makes very hard to understand if everything has the right lights, shadows and reflections (and even focus).
* Two flashes often are not enough to have the light everywhere is needed.
* Since high density digital sensors hate the old good narrow apertures (f:45 or f:90 are instead common, on large format) it is better to place a ND filter on the lens to keep the aperture at a level good for the sensor.
* A monobloc strobe with a sturdy support, a good modeling lamp and a lot of tailored accessories can't be replaced with a portable flash, even if this has a lot of sophisticated functions or power.
Conclusions
For beginners who want to shoot small objects continuous lights are better, and don't require expensive accessories (remote triggers, umbrellas, lightbox, supports, etc.).
Anyway, using appropriate (long) exposure times, it is possible to mix strobe light and continuous light, but this is pretty tricky.
Who need fresh lemons can climb my tree: this year I have an overproduction of them.

Una delle domande che mi vengono poste più frequentemente durante i miei corsi online di fotografia è se è meglio usare un flash o una luce continua.
Di solito scatto le mie nature morte in luce continua, per avere un controllo visivo immediato su ombre, riflessi, ecc., quindi questa volta ho deciso di fare uno scatto "a la strobiste".
Per ottenere questa brutta luce sbilanciata con un mucchio di ombre affilate ho usato:
- sulla sinistra un Pentax AF 400 T a potenza 1/25 (il numero guida è 8, stando al manuale) a 70 cm;
- sulla destra un Philips P32 GTC a potenza 1/4 (dovrebbe essere anche questo a numero guida 8) a 60 cm, con un diffusore in carta da cucina davanti.
Entrambi i flash, a torcia, erano montati su vecchi cavalletti economici, mezzo metro più in alto dei limoni.
Per farli scattare ho usato:
- un radiocomando cinese comprato su eBay;
- un coso "1 PC sync maschio - 2 PC sync femmina + hot shoe", comprato anche quello su eBay, attaccato all'uscita del ricevitore.
I cavi dei flash, totalmente stirati, mi hanno permesso di avere 120 cm tra i flash.
La foto è fatta con un SMC Pentax M 50/1.7 a f:22... solo perché la ghiera dei diaframmi si ferma lì, e non avevo abbastanza cavo per mettere i flash più lontani.
Alcune considerazioni
* La luce diretta e nuda del flash è brutta, troppo cruda. Meglio usare un diffusore o una specie di "bank" o "lightbox" o come accidenti li chiamano i marketroidi.
* I flash sono troppo potenti, e richiederebbero più distanza dal soggetto. Questo vuol dire avere un sacco di spazio disponibile per posizionarli nel posto giusto, almeno un paio di metri su ogni lato del soggetto, e supporti più alti (oltre due metri, se non volete fare le foto sul pavimento, che è scomodo per mettere a fuoco).
* La mancanza di una luce pilota rende estremamente duro capire se tutto ha le giuste luci, ombre e riflessi (ed anche fuoco).
* Due flash spesso non sono abbastanza per avere luce ovunque serva.
* Visto che i sensori digitali ad alta densità odiano i cari vecchi diaframmi molto chiusi (f:45 o f:90 sono invece comuni, nel grande formato) è meglio montare un filtro ND per tenere il diaframma ad un'apertura che vada bene al sensore.
* Un illuminatore monoblocco da studio con un supporto solido, una buona lampada pilota e un mucchio di accessori fatti apposta non può essere sostituito da un flash portatile, anche se quest'ultimo ha un mucchio di funzioni sofisticate o potenza.
Conclusioni
Per i principianti che vogliono fotografare piccoli oggetti la luce continua è meglio, e non richiede costosi accessori (comandi a distanza, ombrelli, lightbox, supporti, ecc.).
Comunque, usando tempi di posa appropriati (lunghi), è possibile mescolare la luce dei flash con la luce continua, ma questo richiede ulteriori astuzie.
Chi volesse dei limoni freschi può arrampicarsi sul mio albero: quest'anno ne ho una sovrapproduzione.
