A Black Tern (Chlidonias niger) flying past the cattails. Unlike most terns, Black Terns live in marshes. Their numbers are declining in southern Ontario, and they're now quite hard to find in the Greater Toronto Area.
Just outside the sewage lagoons, at the Nonquon River, I spotted this Merlin (Falco columbarius) perched in a tree.
