Wow, it looks like a t-storm was trying to materialize here. This was looking northward. As you can see, some precipitation was already starting to fall from under this cloud... Fun stuff! Pic taken from around San Jose, CA. We are currently under a 'shelter in place' order due to the coronavirus so I am basically trapped at home the past few days. At least Mother Nature is keeping me occupied. Anyway, stay safe out there everyone! It's crazy right now with everything happening due to the COVID-19 pandemic...

Wow, a popup supercell t-storm was seen over the eastern foothills of Mt. Hamilton this afternoon! It was a rare sight. This cell even went severe! Believe it or not, interestingly, 10 years ago (June 3, 2009), a thunderstorm outbreak had occurred giving NorCal a nice lightning show overnight, particularly around the Sacramento areas. Pic taken from around San Jose, CA from around the Eastridge Mall parking lot areas. (Saturday afternoon, June 1, 2019; 3:01 p.m.)
*Weather update:
A weak upper level low pressure area was over the southwestern U.S. & was moving slowly eastward. This day & Sunday, we were to have enough moisture & instability in the atmosphere to generate afternoon cumulus clouds over the mountains with isolated thunderstorms even here around the Bay Area (hence the pop up storm over Mt. Hamilton this afternoon). Temps today & Sunday was to be 5-10 degrees above normal... By Monday & Tuesday, a high pressure area was to be along the coast. The state was to be mostly clear with afternoon clouds over the mountains/Sierras. Temps were to continue to be above normal with light winds. By Wednesday & Thursday, a low pressure trough was to move thru the Pacific Northwest & western Canada. The only effect this system was to have on Northern California was to bring a few clouds in the far north & temps dropping back down to near normal... Then by Friday thru the weekend, it looks mostly clear with above normal temps...
