Love these sad flowers. In Ukraine people say that these flowers spot the places where the blood of warriors was spilled.
i know, i know, it's a pretty popular theme this time of year. i decided to go on a poppy search as some of yorkshire photographers had done before me.

A poppy growing wild in my backyard. Delicate and wispy they commanded attention in a forgotten part of the yard that year.
It's not easy photographing poppies in bright sunlight but in this instance, the light added to the composition I think. I waned to keep things really simple and I have to say, I'm pleased with the result.
