My friend, Lisa, lives in a small town east of the city I live in. Last summer, on her walks in the town's park, she kept noticing dead copperhead snakes. She and I spitballed her story and the photos she took of the snake carcasses. We came up with a book I'm making called Copperhead Road. I invented a small town and I've written a story that goes with the pages I'm making for the book. Here's one of those pages.
This is a Fas Mart Express located in the parking lot of the Quarles Fleet Fueling Island at 2301 Commerce Center Dr, Rockville, VA.
This looks to be a glorified bank of vending machines installed in a modified shipping container. I've never see something like this done before, but it's certainly an interesting use of a shipping container.
Fas Mart is owned by GPM Investments, which is a subsidiary of ARKO Corp. who also owns Quarles.
Tuesday evening, July 23 2013, my friend Victor opened his (pop up) store Uncover Lab (just around the corner from my house, on Zeedijk 80), the world's first tattoo shop for objects (that you care about) and the place to buy sustainably grown bamboo products. It was a cool...no, very HOT evening.

The decorations by Armani Beauty with the pop-up stall at the atrium of Ngee Ann City, Orchard Road for the Christmas Festival.
On the right the Kaiser-Wilhelm-Gedächtniskirche, almost completely destroyed during the Battle of Berlin in November 1943. It now houses a memorial hall, and a cross of nails from the roof timbers of Coventry Cathedral which was destroyed in a German air raid in 1940.
In the middle, the Mercedes-Benz logo atop Europa-Center it was built following the construction of the Berlin Wall in West Berlin as an office and shopping center following an American style. It is now a listed building.
On the left is Bikini Berlin, a "concept mall" full of "pop-up" stores. The sprawling, 3 level complex includes cafes, a hotel, and numerous stores ranging from "concept supermarkets" to short leased boxes that are occupied by local fashion and product manufacturers and their wares.
