Back in the 1980s, the theatre department at Western Kentucky University in Bowling Green, Kentucky would throw a polyester party. Everyone had to come as a character that they had created, and do a "talent" in a competition to name a polyester King, Queen, Princess and Prince. This was in the Fall of 1987 - I had won polyester queen title the year before, so hosted the party that year, my senior year. Yes, that's me as a blond. We were fabulous.
