It was really nice to have models :D

also we played a game called 'pterodactyl' and it's basically just making pterodactyl noises in a circle. IT WAS AMAZING.

The Pollux building in Frankfurt: a high-rise (130 meters) from the nineties with a timeless design. After having been left empty, it was time for a marketing and sustainability incentive. With OVG as asset manager this was the thinking behind making the existing Pollux building sustainable, attracting new tenants and thereby breathing new life into the building. Our efforts were rewarded when Pollux was the first building outside of the UK to receive the BREEAM-In-Use Excellent sustainability certificate. Meaning that the building is sustainable in both management and use. Something we are proud of.

The remains of the Temple of Castor and Pollux stand in the foreground (three columns), and the remain of the Temple of Vesta stand to the left.

The first Temple of Castor and Pollux was built on this site in 484 BC. The temple was rebuilt in 73 BC but that temple was destroyed by fire in 14 BC. The temple was then again rebuilt by Tiberius, son of Augustus and later emperor himself, and rededicated in 6 AD.

The remains we see today are from Tiberius' temple except the podium which is from the reconstruction in 73 BC.

Castor, ital.

From Wilkin valley at dawn

Title: Temple of Castor and Pollux

Other title: Valley of the Temples (Agrigento, Sicily); Temple of the Dioskouroi; Temple of Castor and Pollux (Akragas, Italy)

Date: 5th century BCE

Current location: Agrigento (Akragas), Sicily, Italy

Description of work: The historic illustrations included in this project were originally published during the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries. Many originally appeared in publications that predated the widespread use of photography for art documentation. These engravings, line drawings, and plans reflect both the technological and aesthetic standards of their time. By their very nature, they often represent subjective interpretations of the monuments and works depicted, and as such they offer fascinating insights into the cultural values of art and architectural history during the formative years of these disciplines. In the context of these images the terms ""reconstruction"" and ""rendering"" have been used to distinguish between the artists' speculative reconstruction of a ruined work from the artists' perspective drawing or rendition of the design.

July 15 - Festival of Castor and Pollux

In Greco-Roman mythology, Castor and Pollux were twin gods who helped shipwrecked sailors and received sacrifices for favorable winds. Worshipped as the Dioscuri (from the Greek Dioskouroi, or "sons of Zeus"), their cult was a popular one in 484 b.c.e., when, according to legend, the twins fought on the side of the Romans in the Battle of Lake Regillus and brought word of their victory to Rome. A temple was built for them in the Forum, and it was here that the annual festival in their honor was celebrated on July 15.

Castor and Pollux were renowned for their athletic ability and are usually depicted as horsemen. They shared the same mother, Leda, but Castor was the son of Tyndareus and was therefore mortal, while Pollux was the son of Zeus and immortal. When they got into an argument with Idas and Lynceus, another set of twins, Castor was slain. Pollux was heartbroken because, as an immortal, he could not join his brother in death. Zeus finally allowed them to stay together, dividing their time between the heavens and the underworld. Eventually they were transformed into the constellation known as Gemini (The Twins), which, before the invention of the compass, was an important aid to navigation.
