I am open to correction on insect ID.
Whilst unsuccessfully trying to photograph busy bees in my garden, I managed to capture this hoverfly which stayed still a little longer for me.
It is milkweed’s time in the garden. Ants are crawling all over the sticky blooms which smell so sweet!
Despite being mainly hunters, wasps may also play the role of pollinators sometimes. In the photo: a wasp consuming floral resources in Serra do Cipó, Brazil.
Hard to discern which species of hummingbird with so much pollen. Guessing Rufous female?

Can't really help myself. I love bees, and wasps, hornets and yellowjackets. I enjoy photographing them close...as close as I can get. Sometimes it is with a longer macro lens, sometimes a quite short one indeed. Doesn't matter. The bees all just go about their business, and I've never once made a stinging acquaintance with any of them, of any kind.

MSU AgBioResearch scientists Rufus Isaacs and Doug Landis have identified a number of native plants that attract beneficial insects to landscapes.
Isaacs, professor in Entomology, is especially interested in plants that c an attract native bees to blueberry fields to help farmers pollinate their crops.
Landis, professor in Entomology, is starting field trials to see if fields bordered by native plants have fewer pest insects as well as higher yields.
