A honey bee pauses mid-forage on a cluster of pale blossoms, its wings catching soft light as it gathers pollen from the flower’s center. The shallow depth of field keeps the background gentle and unobtrusive, allowing the interaction between insect and bloom to remain the clear focus.
Photographed in Denver while walking toward the Denver Botanic Gardens, this moment highlights the quiet, everyday work of pollinators in an urban landscape—small, easily overlooked scenes that quietly sustain much larger systems.
Looking over Lakssjø towards the main road, it looked like a yellow mist blowing over the trees. A breezy but warm sunny day and the trees were casting their pollen to the winds in thick clouds.
Not sure how well it shows up in the photo though.

This was a huge hornet. I started far off, but eased myself closer and closer because I didn't want to irritate this monster. This thing kept going around this flower over and over again. I spent about 3 minutes at this spot taking photos of this bee.

Looking for food and helping plants, this is the job of pollinators. These animals, mostly insects, feed on nectar and pollen. While moving on the flower they collect lots of pollen grains and move them to the next flower, so that it reaches its stigma. The role of pollinators in the reproduction of many plants is crucial. We all know, or should know, that pollinators are needed to allow fertilization in Rosaceae: without them there would be no apples, pears, peaches, cherries, strawberries and many other fruits used by Man as food. So, respect pollinators!
Pollination is the process by which pollen is transferred in plants, thereby enabling fertilization and sexual reproduction. Pollen grains, which contain the male gametes (sperm) to where the female gamete(s) are contained within the carpel;[1] in gymnosperms the pollen is directly applied to the ovule itself. The receptive part of the carpel is called a stigma in the flowers of angiosperms. The receptive part of the gymnosperm ovule is called the micropyle. Pollination is a necessary step in the reproduction of flowering plants, resulting in the production of offspring that are genetically diverse.
The study of pollination brings together many disciplines, such as botany, horticulture, entomology, and ecology. The pollination process as an interaction between flower and vector was first addressed in the 18th century by Christian Konrad Sprengel. It is important in horticulture and agriculture, because fruiting is dependent on fertilisation, which is the end result of pollination.
Pollination is the act of transferring pollen grains from the male anther of a flower to the female stigma. The goal of every living organism, including plants, is to create offspring for the next generation. One of the ways that plants can produce offspring is by making seeds.
