Glass floors. A floating stairway angled artfully within a wide, two-story hall. Airy, contemporary rooms with walls of windows bringing the outside in. Award-winning architects. These are only some of the extraordinary elements that make 3601 Euclid the architecturally significant home it is. The residence was originally built in 1967 by award-winning architect Roland G. Roessner, a professor at the University of Texas for 34 years and a contemporary and friend of the legendary O’Neal Ford. In 2008, the property was redesigned, rebuilt and expanded by the present owners with an acclaimed team. The renovation by Brown Architects and landscaping by Hocker Design resulted in three ARC Awards and a silver LEED certification (the internationally recognized green certification system). Situated on a beautiful .47 lot, the home was created with entertaining in mind to allow access to its patios, swimming pool, and large backyard, with lighting by Weiss Design. Exposed brick walls in various rooms and bamboo wood floors in the living areas warm clean-lined spaces. The wide, double-height entry with a floating stair provides the initial “wow” factor, which continues throughout the surrounding rooms – a study and generous formal areas. The dining area boasts a handsome, floor-to-ceiling, polished travertine stone fireplace and a wall of glass that opens to a private patio. The Poliform kitchen – a blend of superior design and uncompromising functionality – includes solid quartz counter tops, a large center island, 7-burner Wolf gas cooking, and double Wolf ovens with a warming drawer. In an open design, the kitchen gives way to a den offering walls of windows that view the pool. The first-floor Master features a sitting room with a fireplace and a view of the pool. Both His and Her master baths have large, frosted glass windows; Hansgrohe fixtures; and Poliform cabinets: His with a dark wood finish, and Hers in a natural colored oak. The common tub-and-shower wall is comprised of floor-to-ceiling, natural-colored pebble stone. All upstairs bathrooms have classic, clean-lined finishes. Across a glass-walled “bridge” from the main house to the second floor of the three-car garage there is a game room, a bedroom, and a bath, all of which could serve as a guest suite.
