Adult gannets are large and bright white with black wingtips. They are distinctively shaped with a long neck and long pointed beak, long pointed tail, and long pointed wings. At sea they flap and then glide low over the water, often travelling in small groups. They feed by flying high and circling before plunging into the sea. They breed in significant numbers at only a few localities and so is an Amber List species.

What they eat:

Fish.

Thanks for viewing my photos and for any favourites and comments, it’s much appreciated.

Morinda latibractea is a tall shrub or small tree 3-5 m tall. Leaves are broadly elliptic to oval shaped 8-15 x 3-5, with pointed tips.

Morinda latibracteata is endemic to the rock islands of Belau (Palau). There are between 50 to 80 species of Morinda, mostly in the old-world tropics. All Morinda flowers are heterostylous, meaning flowers have variable style length to prevent self-fertilization.

Just to the west of Odessa Nebraska...

As all of my cameras were pointed towards the supercell showing all that rotation. I really didn't pay attention to the storm that was coming in from the due north, until I paused to look that way.

2nd Storm was almost on top of my location. Luckily it was moving to the southeast & that meant I had a little time before the storm moved directly over.

This 2nd storm was outflow dominate. Producing this incredibly photogenic shelf cloud as in slow crept toward the city of Kearney.

This storm just kept getting photographically better by the minute. I had to flip 180s for a few mins as both storms was producing some insane storm photography!

The weather forecast all week had pointed to a good weekend, so my son & I planned a (long) daytrip to the Trossachs.

Our plan was to walk the Meall nan Tarmachan ridge: a circular route taking in the Munro of Meall nan Tarmachan.

But as can be seen from the shot (& the title), the weather didn't quite work out as we had hoped, with the cloud level stubbornly sticking around the 500-600m level. Thus we curtailed the plan to a sometimes soggy there and back up Meall nan Tarmachan (see shot in comments for 'visibility at the summit!).

If you want to see what we missed, please take a look at www.walkhighlands.co.uk/perthshire/meall-nan-tarmachan.shtml

This cat was sitting in front of the abandoned house from my previous upload and was staring me down while I took photos. I don't think it was very amused. Even less amused that I decided to take its photo too! (and promptly ran away when the camera was pointed in its direction 😂)

No, not a member of a Borg Collective, rather three of this Zebra spider's eight eyes, keeping track of that big shiney thing pointed at it, and wondering... can I take it down? Another chapter in The Little Spider That Could story. At around 6mm (1/4") these little dudes will easily take down prey three to six times their size. This one lives in my backyard rust project... but that's another story. Single image, handheld.

I went for a walk with my wife near our home and she pointed out the small birds in the trees. I took some photos and thought at the time there is no way I am going to capture this bird. The sky was cloudy and white. Lucky for me, the framing worked out.

My son pointed out the art with which the graffiti artist had mimicked the logo of the cafe. I think he is right, and the graffiti is, in any case, a great piece of graphics.

Some days, the world’s a frantic pace,

A whirlwind of noise and haste.

When deadlines loom and stress abounds,

A quiet solace can be found.

So let’s escape the noisy fray,

And seek a calmer, gentler way.

With snail-like pace, we’ll wander free,

And find tranquility.

Beneath a tree, we’ll sit and watch,

As shadows dance, a playful match.

The snail, a friend both slow and sweet,

Will join us there, a perfect treat.

We’ll talk of life, of hopes and dreams,

And share our secrets, it seems.

For in this quiet, peaceful place,

We find a moment filled with grace.

For a few seconds, I pointed the camera at the trees. Then I flipped it upside down for a few more seconds. So it's sort of a shaky messy double exposure.

Another “life bird” for me as the Nashville warbler is not all that common in this area. But, as it was pointed out to me, it is “warbler season” and many varieties of warblers are migrating through right now.

An extreme close up of a baby Beddome's keelback snake. This one was just the size of an earthworm, so had to get real down and close to get this shot. Loved how it was holding the tail up, so I manipulated ny position around to get both the head and tail in the focal plane.
