A little info:
The current Thomas Point light is arguably the most widely recognized lighthouse in Maryland and is the only screw-pile light on the Chesapeake Bay still in its original location. (The remaining 3 have been moved to museum settings.) It is the third light to mark Thomas point shoal.

After rifling through my photos for an interesting subject I came upon a photo I'd taken back in 2008 of Neist Point Lighthouse on the Isle of Skye. It's not the typical shape for a lighthouse, but it was interesting enough to draw.

Augereberry Point was named after a prospector named Pete Augereberry to worked this part of Death Valley reputedly built the first access road to the point so that he could share the view with others.
Badwater basin far below and the peaks of the Panamint Mountains are the results of the land tilting along active fault lines.
There is 1.5 km walk up on the foresty road to the Lighthouse.
Seal Rocks, NSW
Sugarloaf Point Lighthouse also known as Seal Rocks Lighthouse is an active light tower that has been operating since December 1875. It was built to stand guard over the rugged and pointy Seal Rocks and Sawtooth Rocks as these were unsuitable to build a lighthouse on. The elegant light tower is one of only two light towers in Australia with an external stairway, and has been automated by electricity since 1987.
Stabled at the disused fuel point in the shed yard at Leicester on the 11th July 2014 is 56038. Leicester depot has had a new lease of life over the last few months as a number of long term stored class 56 locomotives are being overhauled/repaired for future spot hire opportunities.
Locomotive History
56038 was built at Doncaster works and entered traffic in February 1978, allocated to Toton for Nottinghamshire, Leicestershire, and Derbyshire coalfield duties. The class 56 fleet eventually totalled one hundred and thirty five locomotives built over seven years (1976 – 1983). When introduced, the class displaced class 47s on MGR coal trains in the East Midlands and Yorkshire coalfields, along with heavy steel and iron ore duties originating in South Wales, Humberside and the North East of England and allowed the withdrawal of older locomotives of classes 25, 40, 45/0 and 46. Delivery of the class 60 locomotives in the late 1980’s in turn displaced the class 56 locomotives from a lot of these duties and made them available for other general freight work, again allowing withdrawal of older locomotives, this time from classes 20, 31 and 47. The class 56 fleet was hit very badly by the introduction of the class 66 locomotives from 1999 and by the end of 2003 the fleet was down to around twenty five in service including 56038. In February 2004 56038 was withdrawn and the last two locomotives of the fleet were withdrawn two months later. From late 2004 through to the end of 2006 a number of the class were used in France on infrastructure duties associated with the construction of new high speed lines. 56038 arrived in France on the 7th October 2004 and returned to the United Kingdom on the 27th December 2006. On its return it was stored at Crewe however over the last few years a number of the class have been overhauled/repaired and returned to main line service. 56038 has been removed from storage at Crewe and following by a period at Burton has moved to Leicester were it is waiting its turn for overhaul/repair.
McGulpin Point Lighthouse (listed as McGulpin's Point in early Lighthouse Board records) went into service in 1869, marking the southwestern side of the entrance to the Straits of Mackinac. In 1892, a lighthouse was built on Mackinac Point, just two miles east of McGulpin Point. Mackinac Point Lighthouse was located on the most northerly point of Michigan's lower peninsula and could be seen by vessels entering the Straits of Mackinac from both the west and east. McGulpin Point Lighthouse thus became redundant and was retired in 1906 after just thirty-seven years of service.

Another from my trip up to Caithness last month. This was a very difficult shot due to the conditions as it was very very windy with strong gusts coming towards me and was basically having to hold the tripod down :-(

Ladle was too full, so some had to be dumped out. The steel that was dumped out will be remelted and used again.

Rough Point is one of the Gilded Age mansions of Newport, Rhode Island, now open to the public as a museum. It is an English Manorial style home designed by architectural firm Peabody & Stearns for Frederick William Vanderbilt. Construction on the red sandstone and granite began in 1887 and was completed 1892.

Shi Shi Beach, Olympic National Park
There is no doubt that Shi Shi Beach is the most beautiful beach in Olympic National Park. Point of Arches, a mile-long cavalcade of sea stacks and natural arches, at the south end of Shi Shi Beach is truly a paradise for photographers. It is also featured by the unique rock formations on the ground. Camping and watching sunset at Point of Arches became the most amazing experience during this trip.
To camp overnight on Shi Shi Beach, one needs to get the wilderness camping permit from the visitor center in Port Angeles or Forks. You DON'T need to buy the Makah recreation pass in Neah Bay, since the pass is for day visit. But when approach to the Shi Shi trail head, try to find the closest house who has available park space advertised, and pay whatever they charge you for overnight parking. Overnight parking at the trail head is not allowed.
BTW: the new flickr interface seems to be not friendly to photos with portrait orientation. Make sure to press "L" to view them in full screen mode, otherwise the photos are resized and compressed in a wield manner...

Short trip to Beluga Point. The first sunny day that we have had in a few days. I had to take advantage while the sun was out. As my wife says, "Make hay while the sun shines".
