Start Point, South Hams, Devon.
I think this is my favourite shot from my recent trip to Start Point.
It was blowing a gale and I had to crouch over my camera to stop it being buffeted by the wind, I had to go for a low angle on the tripod to keep any movement to an absolute minimum. This was a 20 second exposure, I took about 20 shots just hoping that one would be in focus, I just about got lucky. I like the foreground interest with the wild flowers and the way the headland leads your eye to the lighthouse and the blurred skies, cant wait to go back again. Incidentally in between shots I was kept amused by a seal who seemed quite interested in what I was doing and kept coming up real close, a stunning place to be.

Point Atkinson Lighthouse at the entrance to Vancouver Harbour welcomes ships from around the world.
good or bad but more and more my shots from Split are explored, now suddenly 15 are explored in last few weeks, none of them on the first page though.
Here are the latest entries:
I wonder how Flickr could miss this one, it should be on the front page of explore long time ago.
Looking east, this was taken whilst flying south over Pittwater, a semi-mature tidal drowned valley estuary some 40 km north of Sydney's central business district. The point is the north-western corner of the beachside suburb of Avalon Beach.
The Kuringgai, often called Guringai, peoples were the traditional inhabitants of the land and waterways north of Sydney Harbour. Amongst them, there were many smaller units called clans, of which the Carigal were most prominent in the area surrounding Pittwater. During 1789 the impact of smallpox on aboriginal peoples led to extensive mortality, with the death rate estimated at somewhere between 50% and 90%.
The waterway had been surveyed by crew of HMS Sirius in 1788, and named Pitt Water after William Pitt the Younger, the then-Prime Minister of Great Britain. The first regular water transport across Pittwater was the cutter Francis which carried settlers and farm produce from Sydney between 1793 and 1800. By 1803 a fleet of privately-owned coasters had begun operating in the area, usually travelling in convoy to reduce the risk of piracy by escaped convicts living along the shore! Today the 18 sq km of Pittwater is a popular area for water recreation.
On the peninsula stretching across the photograph above, beyond Stokes Point and the bay behind it, is Whale Beach, the next suburb as you head up the Northern Beaches region. Beyond it can be seen the Tasman Sea.
The Tawas Point State Park is known for the spring and autumn warbler migrations. The Spring migration occurs in May. This year, the state rebuilt the access road to the point. As a result, the road was closed until May 31st. By the time I could get there on June 8th, the warblers were gone.
No worries. The lighthouse, pier, and shore birds were interesting enough to make the trip worthwhile.
I found it quite difficult to take the lighthouse at Neist Point. If you stand on top of the cliffs there are some good foreground rocks but I wanted a shot where the headland broke the horizon. To get the headland to break the horizon I went down the steps then traversed back under the line of cliffs. It was difficult to find any interesting foreground features so I spent a good 20 minutes or see before I came up with anything that worked.
Journey to the edge, the rim, the point.
And when you stand
on that merging margin
you can take
your first step.
This is a low tide at Wellington Point looking toward the Port of Brisbane and King Island. Sadly no foreground interest but the sky flashed these beautiful soft pastels soon after the sun had disappeared last night. The long exposure almost created brush like strokes as the clouds moved across the sky. Interestingly this was the last shot of the night as we were packing up - goes to show that the best light often occurs well after sunset... and sometimes as you're on the way home :-)
Thanks Kim for the tour of King Island!

This scene comes from a morning shoot at Fort Baker. The Needles, remnants of the Lime Point Lighthouse, and Golden Gate Bridge are seen here, as well as Old Ft. Point. Oh, and some seagulls.
Thanks for having a look!

Point Hyllie is an important part of the new urban space around Hyllie station square. The development consists of four tower blocks rising up from a column-supported base.
The tallest building is approximately 95 m high, the next-tallest 49 m, and the final two between 29 and 23 m high. The two tallest buildings, the twin towers, will according to the architect symbolize a gateway to Sweden.
The project is a distinctive landmark in the area.
Déjà’s mother was a crack addict and prostitute. At five Déjà started raising the other five children in the house. All shared a mother and none shared a father.
At nine her mother was taken away and the children split up. Déjà ran away from her foster family at twelve and came out as a woman. “I picked up all sorts of habits. I started doing things I don’t do, including smoking crack like my momma did.”
She has been in Hunts Point only a week, “I relapsed so here I am.”
She lives with Michael in an empty lot, working the track at night. “The only way I can prostitute is to drink and to do cocaine. How can you pretend to love and have sex otherwise? Addiction makes you do things you don't want to do.”
She sat in the cold spray of the hydrant, cooling off.
“I want the white picket fence, the Tupperware parties, the husband and kids.”
“Dream? That’s a fairy tale not a dream. Out here you can’t have dreams.”

Point Bonita is the south-western tip of the Marin Headlands, just north of San Francisco. This was taken four years ago on one of the most "-est" shooting nights: my first self-organized get-together of night photographers; my first night shooting digital; the best night weather I've ever experienced on the coast; and the biggest group of night photographers that ever turned up for an unofficial shoot.
Just got home from 9 days down in Cali and had the chance to get out shooting with Bluey a couple times including a trip to Yosemite and a trip to Point Lobos. I also made it into the city with Jim Patterson for a decent sunset last night. This image was taken at Point Lobos. This was my first time visiting this area but will NOT be my last. The coastline along here is absolutely amazing. I hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving week and I will catch up with everything you all have been shooting in the next couple days.

South Shields - The best light was in the other direction which I suppose is normasl for this time of year.
Located where the Link River meets Upper Klamath Lake, Putnam's Point is a great place to view clarks and western grebes. We had the good fortune of spending a few days at this location. Absolutely amazing and a tremendous amount of fun. Klamath Falls, Oregon, 5/2017
This is an image from Lindy Point right below the overlook of the sunset. This viewing station is in Blackwater Falls State Park, WV. Caught a starburst at the bottom of the dark clouds which made it cool. Had a great time in the short period we were there. Very unusual trip down to WV this year. Nice water flow at Swallow in MD, Shay Run was flowing nice, got a starburst sunset at Lindy Point and Sunrise the next morning at Dolly Sods. Can't ask for more than that huh? My Buddy Frank made his first trip down there with me and he lucked out on his first trip down. Good for him. I'm pretty sure he's hooked on the venues.
