Local neighbor must have company. This is the first time I've actually seen the plug in procedure. It looks so easy.
For the MacroMonday theme "My Work", I work in IT and this is the end of a Cat5e cable. It's a pretty certain bet that somewhere between the device you are reading this on and the Flickr server that is presenting it to you there will be at least one of these little babies carrying the traffic. They really do make the Internet world go round.
To paraphrase Homer Simpson: "How can eight little copper strands in four twisted pairs, bring so much happiness?"
HMM!
14/05/16 #1230. Ut-oh :-( The spark plugs from cylinders 3 and 4 from the Subaru. The one from cylinder 4 on the left, is darkened with engine oil. That combined with a very wobbly idle, a cylinder 4 misfire error and high oil consumption suggests a failure in that cylinder. Disappointing for a fully serviced, unmodified, 100k mile car. The repair bill could be enough to write the whole car off :-(
Kato Unitrack uses color-coded two wire cables for track power and switch machine control. Instead of having to solder connections and / or using lots of screw terminals, the cables snap together with plugs. The plugs do require 1/2 inch (12 mm) holes in the top of each layout section. I also drill mouseholes in certain places in the underframe to route the cables between sections. My left hand is holding a red and black cable that appears from the mousehole. My right hand is holding the bit I used in the electric drill to cut the mousehole. You can see the horizontal L girder that another layout section will rest upon.
Hillman Swallow Prototype (1964) Engine 1250cc S4 OHV Production 1
HILLMAN SET

Developed as a rear engined family car. in 1964, with a rear boot albeit a narrow one and a more spacious frony luggage compartment. The engine a newly developed 1200cc,
was transversely mounted in between the rear boot and the back seat. Front suspension is by McPherson struts with the rear more resembling the suspension of the Imp. The spark plugs were accessed from within the car, after the rear seat was removed. For the most, access to the engine wasn't bad at all, only unusual.
The styling does bear a passing resembleance to that of the later Hillman Hunter, and was overseen by Rex Fleming, The front mounted radiator made for quite an overhang and it was one of the reasons it didn't look very stylish. But it was roomy and had four doors.
The engine was designed by Coventry Climax and it was envisaged that engines of 1250cc, 1500 and 1750cc versions would be used in the production model.
But by now Rootes were feeling the financial fall out from the Linwood Plant and profitability of the Imp was below expectations, more importantly Ford had announced their Cortina which was a game changer in the mid-sized car sector. Rootes canned the Swallow project in November 1963 instead deciding to go with the smaller, cheaper Arrow project (which ran concurrently with the Swallow since late 1962)
But by now Pressed Steel had already built this one prototype, which first ran in 1964

I only took a handful of photographs a year ago, and most of those were of my chair. So here's a tree or two, our neighbor's camper, and the power supply we shared. I rather like the trees....
The "other" pix included a couple poorly-executed attempts to photograph a Blue Jay raiding the campsite on our other side. Those aren't worth sharing, but I can report that the (apparently) same Jay was behaving similarly last week. As were chipmunks, ground squirrels, and a family of raccoons. We seemed to be under siege.

This photograph is an outtake from my 2021 photo-a-day project, 365^4.
Number of project photos taken: 7
Title of folder: Red Chair
Other photos taken on 8/16/2021: I already mentioned the Jay, poorly photographed with my phone. My pocket cam continued the previous day's project with three more pics of the leaves overhead--this time with clouds.
