I'm still playing around with settings...this time Tabby was my victim.

I caught the sunlight when the sun was setting and then added a low flash for fill-in light.

So, November is almost around the corner and well... I love Catrinas. So when Erika said she was down to be the MUA of a Catrina session, I was ecstatic!!! How could I refuse??? Of course Nadia participated as well, and well, she was perfect as a model!!! Everything worked out perfectly!!!

Dave and I went to a barn and started playing with the natural light and manual focusing. It is more difficult that it seems and most were rejects.

I was doing some tests one night for a school assignment and discovered how much fun the Christmas lights were on the trees in Santa Monica with a long exposure.

Looking outside the train window.

Last night we played with the Digital SLR, creating interesting photos using light.

This photo has such accidental metaphorical resonance with me. I broke the coke bottle fighting off a flying roach. The photo that resulted is a broken version of what I intended. A sparkler, one of the most iconic visuals of our Independence Day, displayed in a broken glass Coke bottle...sounds a little like how I think of American politics right now. Once bright and beautiful, but now broken.

As Shot except for a tiny bit of straightening

This was hand shot too

My plans for shooting today all went to hell

I wanted to go out to the Slough and shoot at high tide

I got there and discovered that every other photographer on the Central Coast had the same idea

And not just any photographers but the ones with the huge white lenses who are obviously compensating

So I decided to try going around to the back side where I found a 'secret entrance'

I figured the 30lb lens crew would never make it back there

Just before I jumped the fence, an official truck pulled up :(

So I went back to the car and headed to the ocean

I found a great spot and started shooting

About 30 minutes in I discovered was still at ISO 1000 from last night :(

The pictures are fine exposure wise but very grainy

I switched and got some great pics

and then realized I forgot to switch to RAW

So my RAW experiment starts tomorrow
