The existing station platform is shorter than Amtrak’s minimum standard length . The station is also located on a curve that is superelevated (sloped) and precludes a platform design that can meet the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) requirements. To address these issues and leave the station in its current location, a new station platform would shift to the straight portion of the track and bridge over Swatara Creek.

Such platforms are very common everywhere on the island. Some of them are private, other public. People take of their shoes and enjoy a rest and the sea breeze, here in the shade.
