Visiting Ballarats unique station over the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of August was like taking a step back in time. The stations large roof would catch wisps of steam, with the smell of coal smoke in the air, and the clamour of people boarding and alighting the train making it seem more like the days of steam, rather than 2010!
In August 2010, to celebrate the return to service of 121yr old steam locomotive Y112, Steamrail Victoria ran a train to Ballarat behind K153 (with T356 along as insurance). Over the weekend of the 21st and 22nd of August, Y112 and K153 ran a number of push-pull shuttles between Ballarat and Sulky (on the Maryborough Line).
