The building is intentionally reminiscent of the United States Capitol. Designed by Elijah E. Myers, it was constructed in the 1890s from Colorado white granite, and opened for use in November 1894. The distinctive gold dome consists of real gold plate, first added in 1908, commemorating the Colorado Gold Rush. The building is part of Denver's Civic Center area.
Flower Plate 5 is a macro photograph of the back of an anemone flower on a light box. It is a part of a tribute to the artists who created 1000 flower plates.

This was challenging for me to edit. I regret my fabric and surface choices but did the best I could with what I used. My daughter helped me create these cute paper plates for the snail to spin, you can't tell but she drew snails on a few of them.

Happy Monochrome Monday ... scene from Utah near Moab. Like being in another time there at Moab Giants ;)
Decatur and Eastern Illinois (DREI) (former-NS/ex-SOU 5020) GP38-2 #3896 leads a four-unit consist and 112-car loaded grain train south out of Oakland, Illinois. The deactivated approach signal once warned north-bound Nickel Plate crews of a crossing with the Pennsy, now long gone.
A Watco subsidiary, the DREI initiated operations in September 2018 with the purchase of the CSX (ex-B&O) Decatur Subdivision and Danville Secondary Subdivision, connecting Decatur, Illinois and Terre Haute, Indiana. In December 2019, the railroad expanded by acquiring the Eastern Illinois Railroad (EIRC), consisting of approximately 56-miles of the former Nickel Plate Cloverleaf line between Neoga and Metcalf. The two lines are connected at Metcalf, forming a “V” pointed to the north east.
The train will head south for Charleston, pick up a fifth unit, and press on for Neoga, where the railroad interchanges with Canadian National. Although the hogger hasn't turned on the headlight yet, 3896 sports a wonky set of ditch lights that flash in unison, permitting me to time this shot to their "on" cycle.
One of my attempts at the "Macro Mondays" theme "Egg".

A blue plate hung on the wall in the Wild Roots Restaurant in Tusket, reflecting light from the window.
When I was in Oxford back in the late sixties, I lived in Digs and from time to time when my landlady was not around she would leave a "cold dinner plate" in the larder for me. Always good! Confession -- this is not real ice but rather "prop ice" made of acrylic for use in photos and movie sets. For the Smile on Saturday challenge: "Presented on a Plate."
Saturday Self Challenge; White on White
Not the easiest challenge, and after various attempts, finally on settled on these two white dinner plates. For better or worse, they were in dappled light, hence the shadow in the background.
Still looking good nine years after its painting but in need of a bath, Norfolk Southern's Nickel Plate heritage locomotive leads train 16G through CP 102 in Macedonia, Ohio.
I don't remember exactly...but this trio must have sounded great crossing Hohman Avenue in Hammond, Indiana.
This was scanned from a Kodacolor 35mm negative I dug up recently. Shot in the mid-seventies. I wish I would have been shooting Kodachrome ll on this day!
I've had this little collection going for a few months. The plates hadn't seen the light of day, but now, they're having a wall to themselves, (I hope, Taff?!).
Orange is my least favorite color. Its the topic for Our Daily Challenge today. I told myself that I would go into the thrift store and come out with something orange I was happy aboutl Surely a contrast to all my turquoise dishes - I do actually like the 2 dinner plates and 4 sandwich plated I got for $2.00
