Plastering means near completion of the exteriors - the lime paints used will turn this shot into a postcard before long.
The top of the PVC is notched to allow the blade to rest more securely. Paper Mache was wrapped around the hilt to give me a better anchor for glue later in the process and around the crossguard to make it look less like PVC pipe when I am done.
The trickiest part was then to partially fill the hilt with water, insert the tang and gently pour dental paster down the pipe. This was to place the weight of the sword in the hilt and help secure the tang in the handle.

VWS6485 Copyright © VW Selburn 2017: I am a seasoned, determined DIY'er. This week I've been ripping tiles off my kitchen walls in order to refurbish and update my kitchen. I'm replacing units, appliances, and tiles, along with the floor. A real make-over! Some tiles have been easy to remove, some have been difficult. What I did notice is that the so called 'professional' (pink) plastering job (on your left) disintegrated when I removed the tiles whilst the tiles I removed from my own (white) plastering job (your right) came off very well, leaving the plaster very much more intact. Sorry fellas but sometimes women DIY'ers do it better! Big chuckle!
