We distributed over 700 houseplants to freshen dorms across the University of Maryland campus. The plants were grown by IAA Ornamental Horticulture and Landscape Management lecturer/advisor Ken Ingram, and his INAG 114: Plant Propagation students.
One week after potting up the tomatoes and basil, (the peace lily in the lower right was not in the last picture).
When these were potted I added a small amount of "Age Old Grow" 12-6-6 liquid fertilizer when watering them in.
We make some plkant starts from seed in prparation for the rains to come! Now that they are here we can plant ten in this new garden by the lodge.
I prefer to include at least three nodes on cuttings, but hope the two I could allow on these will work (due to lack of space). The now 2 day old rose cuttings are on the left.
(Parthenocissus vitacea cuttings, day one).
After four weeks of water propagation in leca, this beauty is ready to be potted in soil.

These white flowers smell fantastic and grow wild. The seeds can be collected on the road from Yotatiro down from the bullring to the railroad tracks.

A friend bought this at Lowe's a while back, it wouldn't bloom for her so I inherited it. It sticks almost straight up. It is most likely an Optimara. Any one have any ideas about it and why it grows like this. It is not a light issue in my house.

On April 28, 2016, IAA Sustainable Agriculture student Michael Perise led a workshop which demonstrated propagation media and seedling production at the University of Maryland's Terp Farm in Upper Marlboro, MD.
After a successful summer internship under farm manager Guy Kilpatric, Michael is completing his IAA certificate through an apprenticeship on the farm. After graduation, he will be employed part time by Terp Farm's host facility, the Upper Marlboro Research and Education Center, while also starting his own vegetable operation in Southern Maryland.
The event was sponsored by Terp Farm and UMD Dining Services.
potted those plants that had enough root growth after 16 days. running out of pots, actually, so not sure what to do with plants that havent' rooted yet. Maybe the potted plants will be ready to go in the ground soon and i can reuse pots. Some of the leaves turned a bit brown (lack of sun while in dog kennel?)
I had leftover rooting solution so I chose to make a cutting from this plant which is growing like crazy.

The dials are a hygrometer (relative humidity) and a thermometer I've been using to monitor conditions within the improvised propagation chamber.
