Ongoing works at what is known as the '1842 pedestrian tunnel' which leads to Townfield Street Chelmsford Station Mill Yard Gateway' redevelopment during the summer of 2018 at Chelmsford Railway Station in the County of Essex (UK).
The tunnel has now gone in this shot however the Victorian braced wall which dates back to 1842 will remain.
The thingy in the foreground is a Doosan DX140LCR excavator plus bucket..

Ongoing works at what is known as the '1842 pedestrian tunnel' (in the centre just out of sight) which leads to Townfield Street and the Chelmsford Station Mill Yard Gateway' redevelopment during the summer of 2018 at Chelmsford Railway Station in the County of Essex (UK).
The 1842 tunnel will be replaced by a much larger and improved access tunnel to the station. Thankfully the braced wall and brickwork on the right which dates back to 1842 will remain.

Note the derelict Chelmsford station signal box up on the viaduct top right. The signal box was built in 1885 and ceased operations on October 19th 1996.

Plant machinery during redevelopment works at what is known as the '1842 pedestrian tunnel' (centre left just out of sight) which leads to Townfield Street at Chelmsford Railway Station in the County of Essex (UK).
As the name suggests this Victorian tunnel along with most of the brickwork here dates back to 1842 however despite some protest, everything to the left of the braced wall was demolished due to the 'Chelmsford Station Mill Yard Gateway' redevelopment works during the spring of 2018.
