Los Vaqueros Watershed in Livermore has an interesting past. I have read about an 8000-year old body uncovered during the construction of the reservoir. Surrounding this area are the Black Hills of Mt Diablo and Vasco Caves where you could find pictographs, bedrock mortars, and remnants of villages from the pre-Columbian time. Who knows what lies beneath this reservoir. Perhaps ancient villages and human remains?
View over Asyut Desert, which is part of the Eastern (Sahara) Desert. The valleys on the plateau spread out like veins.
The Eastern Desert is the part of the Sahara desert that is located east of the Nile river. It spans 223,000 square kilometres of North-Eastern Africa and is bordered by the Nile river to the west and the Red Sea and Gulf of Suez to the east. It extends through Egypt, Eritrea, Sudan and Ethiopia. This is not far from the North tip in Egypt.
