not quite from the summit, but up on the 1900m high plateau of the Schneeberg mountain. Patches of the first snows remain after a period of warm weather we've had the last weeks.

The beach of the two sisters is a challenge to get to and involves a hike past a cave.

Pteridium aquilinum is a cosmopolitan fern which originated in Eurasia and North America. It can spread through rhyzome or spores.

 

Bracken is consumed as a food in parts of the world, notably Japan, Korea, China and Wales. The plant contains a carcinogen which can potentially be a cause of a number of cancers which are more prevalent in that area, but is also known to be denatured by soaking in water and cooking.

I'm not sure if the peak here is in fact Mt. Olympus - one way or another it is a majestic sight. Quite impressive what a mobile phone camera can do behind a not particularly clean plane-window.
