Pinus species are trees or, less often, bushes. The wood, the bark, the leaves shaped as needles and often also the cones form resin channels. The trunk is monopodial, so it goes through from the base to the tip.

A beautiful name for a beautiful bird.

This was my second of the spring.

One of over 50 species of New World Warbler living in North America, the Pine Warbler (Setophaga pinus) is not often seen far from pine trees. It does, after all, dine primarily on their seeds and pine-loving insects. It will also nest in pines, typically at the ends of branches high off the ground. And because of its penchant for seedy foods, it is one of the only warblers that will occasionally visit bird feeders!
