Pink pillars of light from the Aurora display that I captured from Babbacombe beach, Torquay on the night of 12/13th August 2024.
The Pink Cockatoo (Lophochroa leadbeateri) inhabits some of Australia's harshest regions, including arid and semi-arid environments. There are two subspecies: one inhabits the eastern part of its range and the other inhabits the central & western parts of its range. The eastern subspecies tend to be a little larger and have a prominent yellow band in their crest. This individual belongs to the central/western subspecies and was encountered in coastal scrub, near the W.A./S.A. border.
I raided the button box for something pink to photograph for this challenge...

Pink-eared Duck

Colloquially know as Zebra Ducks, or more casually "Zebbies", they tend to fly in tight formations, presumably for safety from predators.
Pink Backed Pelican
Pink Backed Pelican, Pelecanus rufescens,
Now living in Putrajaya Wetland, Malaysia. Some of the birds in the flock learnt to fly again, become escapee.
This rhododendron put out a lot of blossoms on the upper half of the plant. This is one we can enjoy easily from our south window.
Blossom of the Pink Oleander. All parts of this plant are poisonous. Dedicated macro lens. My front yard. No crop.

I use to past often in this street and see the red pub with its yellow wall but this morning, my eyes were stopped by the little pink twingo parked just in front.
The frame is for the fun !

Named Pink-eared, but, at least among those I bird with, called "Zebbies" a reference to their zebra like markings.
They are quite the communal duck and will feed in a rotating circle called a 'vortex' to trap the tiny prey they filter with that extended beak.
So was interesting to find this one loafing on its own
'Pink Pom Poms' in a garden along Fuller Avenue, Hornsby.
