In a local pub we watched the soccer european champions league final between Barcelona and Juventus Torino. We made our private sports bet and till to the 97th (!) minute the result was 2:1 for Barcelona. And the supposed winner was already shouting for joy and rejoyce. But then came the last seconds of the game...

Well, don't sell the skin till you have caught the bear.

------------

„Juve were relentless in pressure, but Barcelona were equally brilliant in taking time off the clock and keeping Juventus on the perimeter. The Italians just couldn’t break down the Barcelona defense and the Catalans were just waiting for the chance to carry the ball as far away from their goal as quickly as possible. Furthermore, Messi and Neymar were able to steal over a minute by holding the ball at their feet near the corner flag. But to cap off the Champions League Final, in the 97th minute, Barcelona went on another counter, with Messi sending Neymar through. Neymar sent the ball to Pedro who quickly passed the ball back to the Brazilian who finished the chance off with aplomb, resulting in pandemonium on the pitch and in the Barcelona part of the stands.

During the celebrations, Cakir whistled for the full-time, and Barcelona were able to celebrate their fifth European title in the perfect way to send off the legend that is Xavi.“

A black cat befriended us in a Hampshire churchyard.

There were dozens of kittens at the Humane Society when we went to pick out a new kitty, and we petted and talked to a good portion of them. Having not connected with any of them, I was almost ready to give up for the night and come back another time when Roberto found this one (horribly misnamed "Angel" by the staff). After MUCH deliberation, we named her Anyanka after the demon-turned-human on Buffy the Vampire Slayer. The name is a much better fit.

She is occasionally sweet (usually in the wee hours of the dark morning), but mostly she is wildly unique and entertaining. While she gets more giant all the time, she's kept our other cat so busy playing wrestling and chase that he's lost about 5 pounds.

Her first yawn shot caused quite a reaction, and she likes nothing more than to give the people what they want.

30/365/2013 FOOD -

Top: Our fabulous chef Steve made us hot wings for lunch. They were seasoned well and I just love how he puts veggies with every lunch for us. I also think it's great that we have sit-down, family style lunches with students...(99% of the time I really love it. 1% = challenge).

Left bottom: Daughter and I made Palmiers (Elephant Ears) for dessert.

Right bottom: Made Chicken Giordino for dinner. We love it with bruschetta so I made that, too.

Can you tell I love food?
