Wagon Wheel Bowl is still open and thriving! The sign does light up at night, too. The iconic Wagon Wheel Motel is gone now with it's Gumby Green exterior, though. There is some good news that the work of art neon sign will be preserved. I wonder if it will be re-lit when the new project is completed.

On my runs in the canyon, this particular cottonwood kept catching my eye--as late as January 29th, the previous fall's foliage still hadn't completely dropped away...by February 20th, the new spring foliage already filling the tree...Short winter in southern Arizona this year...(iPhone5s)

Driving by here, I've often imagined how awkwardly a parent might have to try to distract the attention of a bookish child learning how to read as they pass by this 'adult' establishment--"Mommy, look at the pretty horses!" "Yes, honey, the horses are pretty..." "Oh, I can read the sign: B-O-O-K--" "Hold my hand while we jaywalk across the street now..." Focus, focus...(iPhone5s)
