the visual fx worksop went awesomely well. It was freezing cold, but I hope everyone got some awesome new hot skills to play with. Thank you everyone who attended, and also big thanks to Richard Terborg Photography/ for shooting these pics and thank you Draumlist for organizing the event.
My visit to the CHP Academy was one that I enjoyed very much. I couldn't resist this unique photo op as we were leaving!

Experimenting making abstracts on an iPhone with art apps ShapeScene, Emulsion, PhotoViva, and using PicFrame to put them together here. All this was done entirely on an iPhone 5s.
I still much prefer doing digital art on an iPad, but now that I have an iPhone, of course I'm curious to see what it can do. I certainly understand how great it is to have a device or set of tools or programs that can do many different things well, like Procreate on an iPad. But there is also the inviting challenge of a limited tool that does fewer things, yet does those things very well. The invitation is to do the most with the least. The iPad camera is like that -- so very limited, but sometimes able to take surprisingly good photos that a single lens reflex might not manage to do.
the eroded landscape of Antelope Canyon is alrealdy amazing enough, but when repeated symmetrically, becomes surreal--taken with a Canon, e-mailed to my iPhone4, then transformed with snapseed app, PicFrame app and KaleidaCam app
Some Things I Saw Today - Marathon Edition
I took a ton of photos today. I always do on the day of the Los Angeles Marathon. There is so much to see. So much inspiration it is hard to comprehend. I uploaded about 100 photos to my website. If you'd like to see those shoot me a note and I will send you a link.
