I really miss the street where this was taken. I didn't think I could ever miss a street. When I look at this picture and listen to Sufjan Stevens' album "Michigan" I almost start to cry. It's almost as though I can smell the dusty Oklahoma air, and taste the Scotch that I used to love to drink when I sat out on the porch. It was a much more simple time, when I didn't have to worry about things like health insurance or mortgages or my parents' chronic neuromuscular diseases, or the fact that my brother went to jail last month.
Funny how man can be so attached to place.
Most people see hot air balloons after they are inflated. Here; however; a worker prepares one of over 30 balloons to launch at Summerfest 2006 in Pontiac; IL.
alot of my images from the early days were about the children of the community i lived and worked. this was from a flag dedication ceremony at the local elementary school. as the flag was presented, one kid in the crowd saluted. this was from my first month working as a photojournalist...i got hooked fast.
To be fair, I think this was during one of the songs and the Catholic Church we were at had the treble cranked.
Had my toenails painted teal today...Tropical Teal...pretty pretty color...It's pretty, but I'm pale and it looks a little goth on me...would be great on someone with darker skin, though.
