* Watch the river marathon.
* Take a convertible ride in the country.
* Dominate at petanque.
* Visit Dad at the caravan club Christmas rally.
* Sink into a deckchair in the sun.
* Challenge Emily to a scooter race.
* Try my first marshmallow pop.
* Celebrate Daz's 40th.
* Get giddy over my Christmas tree lights.
* End up sunburnt.
* Cheer on our corporate eight rowers.
* Laze in the sun by the river.
* Watch the hydroplanes.
* Give gingerbread sleigh decorating a shot.
* Attend Carols by Candlelight.
* Have a Christmas picnic.
* Wear reindeer antlers.
* Buy more Christmas decorations.
* See the broken oar in person.
Beautiful discarded remnants.
NOFX - "Remnants"
Wasting your life on the sidewalk
When you can be out on the street dodging cars
As they go by the wind goes right through you
Life on the edge of a razor
Never knowing when you're to fall
Sure as hell beats never gambling at all
Life's too short to just barely exist
Wide spread mediocracy
Will suck you up, resist
Another number on a list
I don't want it, you can have it
You can try but you won't make me
Feel the things you feel
I'll take my chances 'til I find a better deal
I'll take my chances along with all the rest
The snail goes over the razor blade
The suicide squad of lemmings parade
To their kingdom where they've made their reservation
I have no reservation
I don't think my seat's been saved
I'll take my chances here, right
"When we honestly ask ourselves which person in our lives mean the most to us, we often find that it is those who, instead of giving advice, solutions, or cures, have chosen rather to share our pain and touch our wounds with a warm and tender hand. The friend who can be silent with us in a moment of despair or confusion, who can stay with us in an hour of grief and bereavement, who can tolerate not knowing, not curing, not healing and face with us the reality of our powerlessness, that is a friend who cares."

These carrots looked so good on the shelves of my local whole foods store. I couldn't help myself though and had to get some cookies to eat after them. Small steps towards that healthier lifestyle are better than none, right?
Taken with the Canon PowerShot SX230HS, tone adjusted slightly in post processing. Check out my blog for more amatphoto.blogspot.com
We visited a farm today for a birthday party, and in an abrupt turnaround from days of yore, No. 2 took it upon himself to handle all the animals he could get close to. This goat was particularly fond of him even though no food changed hands/hoofs.
Katie and Kitty arrive for the holidays. Have fish and chips on the deck before going to Jason's 30th.

The diagnosis has been made regarding Domenik's feet and treatment has commenced.
Dommy has been officially diagnosed with Metatarsus Adductus, secondary condition of Mild Club Feet. He also has internal tibial torsion and extremely slack knee's (the tibia rotates way too much)
He is in weekly casts for at least 6-8 weeks, then if it works onto night bracing and orthotics. If casting doesn't work it will mean surgery.... For now he will have half casts, this will be reviewed each week with the possibility of moving to full leg casts....
He was such a brave boy today when his feet were being cast - he was smiling and playing with a rubber toy most of the time, only getting a bit over it when the final touches were being put on the second foot...

My first day back at work for 2012. It's not too bad and I am fairly productive (once I've trawled through hundreds and hundreds of e-mails). Unfortunately Marianne and I are faced with a very dead Christmas tree in our office - I had completely forgotten about it...

8/14/13. Hiked up the Cruikshank Trail from Hwy 1, cleaned three campfire rings, then continued up Buckeye Trail: to the TOP! This was a hard trail, but man oh man, the views were amazing. Here, we're looking south toward San Luis Obispo county. We continued on down to Buckeye Camp, which was beautiful--flowing water, but a way-too-huge fire ring (what are people thinking?)--then on back to 1. A long, wonderful day.

George is very interested in the chicks. We moved him before he got too close.

I seem to got into an 'artistic' groove over the past few days, so I thought I'd try something artistic again, but a little different.
It's been a windy/breezy day today so I thought I'd try to take advantage of it, so it was time to dig out my ND filters to force a nice slow shutter speed...
Image is 'straight out of the camera' (SOOC) with absolutely no post-processing except resizing/downsampling in Irfanview.
Olympus E-600, stacked 8x+4x+4x+2x (18x total) ND filers, on Sigma Zoom-K II 70-210mm f4 (constant aperture) zoom manual focus legacy OM lens @210mm, f4, 2.5sec exposure +3.0EV, ISO100.
Composed using LiveView and manual focussing, tripod mounted, overcast dull daylight.
This is the "tank" (square man-made lake thing that used to be used for ritual washing) at the big temple Manjari took Mark and I to. The odd water texture in the bottom right corner is a huge mass of fish (blackish carpy things) that visitors were throwing sweets to through the fence.
Decorate my office at work. It's not up to my usual standards but it's not too shabby.
