Apis è un genere di insetti sociali della famiglia delle Apidae. Due delle specie comprese nel genere possono essere allevate dall'uomo ovvero Apis mellifera e Apis cerana.
L'Apis mellifera, diffusa in tutti i continenti ad esclusione delle zone artiche ed antartiche, è l'unica conosciuta in Europa. L'Apis dorsata risiede in particolar modo in India e nel Sud-Est asiatico, non è una specie domestica, ha la particolarità di costruire il favo aperto ed è di dimensioni ragguardevoli, tanto da meritarsi il nome di ape gigante dell'India. Nelle stesse zone prolifera l'Apis cerana , di dimensioni però più contenute, che ha il suo habitat in Medio ed Estremo Oriente, in particolare in Afghanistan, Pakistan, India, Siberia, Cina e Giappone.
Honey bees (or honeybees) are a subset of bees, primarily distinguished by the production and storage of honey and the construction of perennial, colonial nests out of wax. Honey bees are the only extant members of the tribe Apini, all in the genus Apis. Currently, there are only seven recognized species of honey bee with a total of 44 subspecies (Engel, 1999) though historically, anywhere from six to eleven species have been recognized. Honey bees represent only a small fraction of the approximately 20,000 known species of bees. Some other types of related bees produce and store honey, but only members of the genus Apis are true honey bees.

The Grand Canyon is a steep-sided canyon carved by the Colorado River in the United States in the state of Arizona. It is largely contained within the Grand Canyon National Park, one of the first national parks in the United States. President Theodore Roosevelt was a major proponent of preservation of the Grand Canyon area, and visited it on numerous occasions to hunt and enjoy the scenery.
The Grand Canyon is 277 miles (446 km) long, up to 18 miles (29 km) wide and attains a depth of over a mile (1.83 km) (6000 feet).[1] Nearly two billion years of the Earth's geological history have been exposed as the Colorado River and its tributaries cut their channels through layer after layer of rock while the Colorado Plateau was uplifted.[2] While the specific geologic processes and timing that formed the Grand Canyon are the subject of debate by geologists,[3] recent evidence suggests the Colorado River established its course through the canyon at least 17 million years ago.[4][5] Since that time, the Colorado River continued to erode and form the canyon to the point we see it at today.[6]
Before European immigration, the area was inhabited by Native Americans who built settlements within the canyon and its many caves. The Pueblo people considered the Grand Canyon ("Ongtupqa" in Hopi language) a holy site and made pilgrimages to it.[7] The first European known to have viewed the Grand Canyon was García López de Cárdenas from Spain, who arrived in 1540.[8]

Il presidente Theodore Roosevelt amava molto l'area del Grand Canyon e la visitò diverse volte, per andare a caccia di puma ed ammirare il paesaggio.
Quasi due miliardi di anni della storia della Terra sono emersi alla luce grazie all'azione del Colorado e dei suoi affluenti, che in milioni di anni hanno eroso strato dopo strato di sedimenti, e grazie al sollevamento del Colorado Plateau.
Il primo europeo a vedere il Grand Canyon fu lo spagnolo García López de Cárdenas nel 1540 che partì dal Nuovo Messico alla ricerca del misterioso fiume di cui parlavano gli indiani Hopi. La prima spedizione scientifica verso il canyon fu guidata dal maggiore statunitense John Wesley Powell alla fine degli anni '70 del XIX secolo. Powell descrisse le rocce sedimentarie esposte nel canyon come "pagine di un grande libro di storia". Comunque, molto prima di queste scoperte, l'area era abitata da Nativi americani che costruirono insediamenti tra le pareti del canyon.

So I reached number three in my photoretouching and the result is a bit different from my two earlier tries.
I had in mind a bigger circus theme but the result I got for now is this one, it´s possible that I will give the circus a second try in the future when I feel more at "home" with this type of retouching.

Domestic Goat
The domestic goat (Capra aegagrus hircus) is a subspecies of goat domesticated from the wild goat of southwest Asia and Eastern Europe. The goat is a member of the Bovidae family and is closely related to the sheep: both are in the goat-antelope subfamily Caprinae. There are over three hundred distinct breeds of goats.[1]
Goats are one of the oldest domesticated species. For thousands of years, goats have been used for their milk, meat, hair, and skins over much of the world.[2] In the twentieth century they also gained in popularity as pets.[3]
Female goats are referred to as does or nannies, intact males as bucks or billies; their offspring are kids. Castrated males are wethers. Goat meat from younger animals is called kid or cabrito, and from older animals is sometimes called chevon, or in some areas “mutton”.

Travagliatocavalli 2010: Una storia che viene da lontano
Tutto ebbe inizio nel 1980 quando Daniele Dante Buizza, sindaco della città, e grande appassionato di cavalli, volle dare vita a una fiera che potesse dare risalto all'equitazione, e al cavallo in particolare, che in quegli anni conosceva un grande sviluppo. Esisteva a Travagliato, è vero, una fiera cavalli ma di stampo agricolo e dedicata al cavallo da lavoro. Invece qui si trattava di mettere in piedi una vera e propria manifestazione equestre dove il cavallo fosse rappresentato in tutte le sue espressioni. Nacque così TravagliatoCavalli. Ripercorriamo la sua storia, dal primo anno, il 1980, attraverso gli avvenimenti che negli anni hanno fatto grande questa iniziativa fieristica.
Già nella seconda edizione del 1981, ecco che TravagliatoCavalli propone il I Concorso Ippico di Formula 1, in collaborazione e realizzato con uno dei più grandi cavalieri italiani e mondiali, Graziano Mancinelli.
L’ '82 è tutto dedicato al cavallo sportivo. E per la prima volta e quasi in prima assoluta, si tiene la prima rassegna del Cavallo Avelignese, che poi tanto successo ha avuto anche in altre analoghe manifestazioni.
TravagliatoCavalli cresce e si caratterizza sempre di più come una manifestazione in cui il cavallo e il suo allevamento hanno una parte preponderante nel palinsesto dell'iniziativa. É così che nell'''83 si tiene la Prima Rassegna Stalloni, mentre l'anno successivo sempre in anteprima, ecco la rassegna del Cavallo da Sella Italiano.
Il 1985 è invece l'anno di un altro grande che fa capolino a TravagliatoCavalli, per non lasciare mai più questa mostra in cui negli anni verranno presentati alcuni soggetti di levatura internazionale: il Cavallo Arabo. Ma questo è anche l'anno della primo concorso ippico Tappa Enci (Ente nazionale cavallo italiano).
TravagliatoCavalli nell''87 è già una mostra importante. Quell'anno alle manifestazioni che avevano caratterizzato la fiera, si aggiungono anche i “salti in libertà”. Altre associazioni di razza chiedono di entrare, e così da allora in poi non mancheranno gli spagnoli Andalusi, i Maremmani, gli Appalosa.
Nel '90 la mostra diventa di livello eccelso con l'internazionale di dressage, che vede riuniti i migliori cavalieri di questa specialità del mondo. Nel '91 viene inaugurata una delle prime aste di cavalli italiani.
La Manifestazione da allora non ha mai smesso di proporre agli appassionati e agli operatori grandi cavalli, grandi cavalieri, grandi eventi e grandi spettacoli, mantenendo i presupposti che dal 1980 al 1990 l'hanno fatta diventare una manifestazione di prestigio.
TravagliatoCavalli, infine, ringrazia gli oltre 45.000 visitatori che ogni anno rinnovano con entusiasmo la loro adesione all'iniziativa.

Balboa Park San Diego Panorama, Balboa Park is a 1,200-acre (490 ha) urban cultural park in San Diego, California, United States.[3] In addition to open space areas, natural vegetation zones, green belts, gardens, and walking paths, it contains museums, several theaters, and the world-famous San Diego Zoo.
