The Phantom Ship is an island in the amazing Crater Lake in Oregon. It appears that people think that it resembles a ghost ship, thus the name. The crater slope behind the island with its top illuminated by the rising sun is reflected in the water.

A mysterious, elegant figure seated in darkness, draped in a hooded cloak made entirely of luminous pearls. Each bead glows softly, tracing the contours of the body with celestial precision. The figure’s face is obscured, its form sculpted from light and shadow—an ethereal being between glamour and void. High heels shimmer like moonlit glass, and the pearls cascade to the floor like liquid starlight, evoking the quiet majesty of divine artistry and hidden identity.

McDonnell Douglas Phantom FGR.2 XV408 at the 1992 IAT Airshow held that year at A&AEE Boscombe Down. Resplendent in a overall Blue colour scheme acquired in 1991 to commemorate 92 Sqn end of Phantom ops in Germany. Now part of the collection at the Tangmere Aviation Museum West Sussex.

Standing in this location at sunset was an epic experience. I just can't get enough of Phantom Falls, and for quite some time I have wanted a shot of the Phantom at either sunset or sunrise. Sunrise would be much more ideal this time of year, but a few months ago the position of the sun would have been perfect to light up the entire canyon (realized that after this one...miscalculated a bit).
Ben and I stayed all the way until the afterglow light was gone (more to share from the other side of the canyon), and it was an eerie walk back to the car in the pouring rain, cross country to the car, dodging cow patties and trying not to break an ankle on the loose rock. Ben wanted to stay and take turns light painting cow patties for a sweet foreground with that huge tree near the parking lot in the background, but I thought we better pack it up and get back to our ever so patient wives (J/K!!!;-) I would imagine that wildflowers have completely exploded up there now, and only have a short time left. 11/2017 - NS 5338 GP38-2 has a new admiral cab. We also see NS 7210 SD80MAC in the deadline with cab fire damage. I believe the green-roofed car is NS 15.

Feedback I received is that the Phantom 4 camera lens suffers from lens flare-it does!.....although sometimes that can be artistic in itself (apparently!)
An F-4EJ Kai of 302 Hikotai from Hyakuri Airbase in the Ibaraki Prefecture of Japan blasts gear retracting as it passes by the open squadron hangar with a couple more F-4EJ Kai and a Kawasaki T4 parked inside.
