Small mammals such as white-footed mice are an important host to nymphal black-legged ticks. These mammals are also reservoirs of tick-borne disease, including Lyme disease, Ehrlichiosis, Babesiosis and Anaplasmosis. Therefore, surveys of small mammals can provide informative counts and phenology of ticks in an area. NYS IPM staff was fortunate to meet with scientists from The Cary Institute of Ecosystem Studies in Millbrook, NY to learn trapping and processing techniques for small rodents.

As lesions enlarge, they become dark brown and the centers turn grayish-white in color as tiny brown or black dots (pycnidia) develop within them.
Spider’s invasion is proved by the presence of cobwebs that it spins regularly to catch a prey for itself. Spiders enter our homes through small window cracks and open exteriors. To start with basic spider’s prevention method, one must seal these tightly, or apply window and door screens to prevent spider’s invasion further as it can be critical to handle. The home owners can use vacuum to sweep the corners of the building as it sucks on the cobwebs and remove the eggsacs.

"The tire dump" Pen and ink on 2 sketch book pages.
Tires pose an enormous environmental problem. as I doodled down this idea - meant to be in the context of a larger work about the environment, I couldn't help but find it fascinating...and almost pretty....at least visually.
