I'm never as active in the winter as I'd like to be, partly because of my extreme wussiness where weather is concerned, so I'm always disappointed by how dramatically our hiking drops off during this season.

Today, we felt a little done-in at just under 4 miles -- an embarrassment! I have to remember, though, my fitness notwithstanding, it's just harder in the winter -- the bitey wind and loose or slippery surfaces underfoot. I have to remember that the point is just to keep going, keep getting out there as much as we can, and that it all counts.

We won't show you how many others we took.

I am so glad that I came back here, and tried again. Called the Board of Education for the city, and asked about getting into the cemetery.

Since then, I've deployed my persistence to great success to get at the Ryukyu-kan in Kagoshima, and the Shimazu clan graveyard. Never give up on the first go! Always think about whether there's another way in, or someone you can ask for permission...

I know I can fit the whole thing in somehow!
