This year, 2026 is the centenary of the formation of Zeiss Ikon, a major player in European camera manufacture in the 2nd and 3rd quarters of the 20th century.

To mark this anniversary, I've decided to use a different Zeiss Ikon camera every two weeks throughout the year, a project I'm calling “Twenty-six in Twenty-six”.

The Contax I appeared in 1932, and was followed by the Contax II in 1936. Production was halted by the war, but in the West was restarted in 1950, with an improved and more reliable version known as the Contax IIa. As the system was aimed at the professional market a good range of lenses was available including several 50mm standard lenses. Mine has the f1.5 Sonnar, which is an impressive looking piece of glass, though in a non reflex camera the advantages of the very wide aperture are tempered by the difficulty in getting exact focus with a rangefinder.

1931.

We were on the way out with two tired, cranky kids, but I had to stop and get a (crappy) hasty shot of this famous piece by my Surrealist hero.

There were two very annoying airheads standing in front of us practically nose-to-glass, blocking everyone else's view while they giggled and whispered to each other. I had to rather heroically restrain myself from knocking their empty heads together so I could get the photo and move on out the door before the kids had twin seizures.

Persistence came to life with help from Dan Cormier & Janice Abarbanel ebooks. Thank you!

Our Indigofera australis has had a hard time this year, as it suffered a fungal infection in the wet first half of the year, and now a prolonged dry spell this year (plus a ridiculously hot August). Only a few buds opened. I took a photo of this, one of the healthiest flowers. [Lower Blue Mountains, NSW]

The contemporary outlook. It reminds me of his painting (and no, I can't admit this picture matches up to his work!)

A quick snap at the bathroom in my yoga class'. I was really afraid to be caught for ... well, many things.

-for being a perv, cos I looked really wierd down there with a camera

-what if someone half dressed come walking out of the door, towards the picture's right (ahh)

-and anyway, no photography is allowed in the mall, in the place, anywhere else.

How do you think of this controversial picture? I think not many of you will like it though! But its the kind of picture I'll die for, even being caught for. Looking at this photo for a stretch of time irritates me, but I like it.

I literally sat for about 15 minutes trying to capture at least a butterfly. I also did some crouching, standing, laying down until I realized an old man was giggling observing my persistence. Ha!

I did take quite a few flower pics. I even spotted a poppy flower. If only I could find a poppy FIELD :)
