Everything changes... This may be one of the hardest lessons of life for beings who, by nature, resist change. In the virtual world, where people, places and things come and go in the blink of an eye, permanence truly is a fleeting concept.
The mighty light at Black Basalt Beach shines no more. For more than three years it stood tall as the distinctive landmark of one of Second Life's most beautiful and best loved places. Gone but not forgotten, the lost sims of SL live on in our hearts and minds. Like all things wonderful, the impact these places had on us becomes part of who we are. Few places in the virtual world have had as big an impact on as many residents as Black Basalt, and for this we should all be grateful and strive to carry this tradition forward, for it is what makes Second Life truly unique and special.

The Lofoten islands are one of those creations of our Planet which are a double edged sword. they are of unbelievable natural beauty which we nowadays admire from the commodity of a well made road and a 4x4 car. But the lives of the locals have been extremely tough for centuries, so they are enjoying their hard gained comforts with pride.

Hamritsar (Inde) - Haut lieu de dévotion pour les Shiks, le Harmandir Sahib, « l’Illustre temple de Dieu », est plus connu sous le nom de « Temple d'Or ». Il est situé au coeur de la ville d'Amritsar dans l'Etat du Punjâb, au nord-ouest de l'Inde, à quelques kilomètres de la frontière pakistanaise.
Construit en 1601 par Gurû Arjan, le cinquième maître spirituel du sikhisme, le temple est localisé au centre d'un bassin sacré, « l' Amrit Sarovar », qui signifie « Bassin au Nectar » et donne son nom à la ville. Les pèlerins y accèdent en empruntant un pont. Le surnom de « Golden Temple » (Temple d'Or) a été donné par les anglais, en raison de la fine pellicule d'or dont la toiture en forme de dôme, a été recouverte au XIXème siècle. Les façades sont couvertes de cuivre. Quant aux fondations, elles sont en marbre.
Comme à mon habitude, je suis resté plusieurs jours à Amritsar pour tenter de m’imprégner du lieu et de me fondre dans le décor. Aucune difficulté pour photographier. Au contraire ; sollicité en permanence par les pèlerins, j’ai passé plus de temps à faire des portraits posés qu’à photographier pour moi. Cependant, la réalisation de ce reportage reste un excellent souvenir.
"Harmandir Sahib", the Mecca of the Shiks
Hamritsar (India) - High place of devotion for the Shiks, the Harmandir Sahib, "the Illustrious Temple of God", is better known as the "Golden Temple". It is located in the heart of the city of Amritsar in the state of Punjab, in northwestern India, a few kilometers from the Pakistani border.
Built in 1601 by Gurû Arjan, the fifth spiritual master of Sikhism, the temple is located in the center of a sacred pool, “Amrit Sarovar”, which gives its name to the city and means “Nectar Pool”. Pilgrims reach it by crossing a bridge. The nickname "Golden Temple" was given by the English, because of the thin film of gold with which the domed roof was covered in the 19th century. The facades are covered with copper. As for the foundations, they are made of marble.
As usual, I stayed several days in Amritsar to try to soak up the place and blend into the scenery. No difficulty in photographing. On the contrary, constantly solicited by pilgrims, I spent more time making posed portraits than photographing for myself.

Cistus,
Jara or steppe are the common names of various plants, most of the genus Cistus, and some of other genera, such as Halimium. They are usually part, sometimes important, of the Mediterranean garrigas, and some species behave as pioneers in the recovery of degraded soils. They are pyrophytes, their germination is favored by fire, and recurrent fires help their permanence by eliminating competition from other plants that would eventually displace them from biotopes. Some species, such as C ladanifer or C laurifolius are resinous, which favors burning although they are green.
They are always evergreen, shrubby, woody plants. The flowers are regular, hermaphroditic and with five large, often wrinkled petals that easily fall from the flower. Its numerous stamens produce a large amount of pollen, which attracts many insects, such as bees that produce honey from jara. Its fruits are capsules formed by 5 or 10 carpels, which open at maturity in 5 or 10 cavities with numerous seeds. The wood of Cistus ladanifer, being very hard, is used in the manufacture of small tools or parts that are going to suffer great friction, and it is also excellent as firewood.

As you can, see the permanence of snow on the landscape is still very noticeable.
I liked the contrast between the warm light of this Wednesday´s sunset and the cold tonality of the snow, creating interesting shadows.
Yesterday, the lowest temperature reached in Madrid-Barajas Airport was 8F (-13ºC), while today it was of 10F (-12ºC), so the snow, already turned to ice, is keeping very well.

Torre de Control Principal (también conocida como Torre Gulliver) en la Terminal 4 del Aeropuerto de Madrid-Barajas al atardecer.
Como se puede ver, la permanencia de la nieve en el paisaje sigue siendo muy notable.
Me gustó el contraste entre la luz cálida del atardecer de este miércoles y la tonalidad fría de la nieve, creando interesantes sombras.
Ayer la temperatura mínima alcanzada en el aeropuerto de Madrid-Barajas fue de -13ºC, mientras hoy fue de -12ºC, por lo que la nieve, ya convertida en hielo, se conserva muy bien.
