City Hall, Toronto, Sept. 20, 1970. Photos of the crowd. Were you there? A series of photos of the performance are on my history website.

We just happened to be at the Pilot truck stop in Quartzsite, AZ when this rig pulled in right behind a Vance & Hines truck. That's a lot of sweet motorcycle goodness right there.

Grand Mass Gymnastic and Artistic Performance

Mosaic wall: one child with one piece of the puzzle! A piece of strong discipline! Mozaiek - muurwand!

Enig mooi!

Arirang is a song symbolic of the Korean nation, proud and homogenous. This song, best permeated with the national sentiments, was a team song when the north and the south formed a single team to participate in the World Table-Tennis Championship and the World Junior Football Championships. Arirang in the past that depicts the sorrow of the nation full of vicissitudes and tragedy is now turned into a song of all nation that aspires after a prosperous and reunified Korea denying present departure or division but envisaging the meeting and reunion.

How many people are separated into the north, the south and abroad!

How painful is their misery and misfortune.

So their joy of reunion will be great but all the greater will be the jubilation of national reunification. Let us all join hands for the day when the long-cherished cause of reunification is achieved and the 70 million Korean sing the song " Arirang of Reunification"

From as young as 5 years old, citizens are selected based on skill level to serve for the Arirang Festival for many years. In most cases this will be the way of life for them until retirement.

The opening event of the two month festival are the mass games, which are famed for the huge mosaic pictures created by more than 30,000 well trained and disciplined school children, each holding up coloured cards, in an event known in the West as a card stunt, accompanied by complex and highly choreographed group routines performed by tens of thousands of gymnasts and dancers

The opening concert of the Harpa Concert Hall is certain to be a monumental event in Iceland's cultural history. Two of Iceland's most admired classical musicians will perform together for the first time: Vladimir Ashkenazy will share the stage with the exceptionally gifted young Juilliard graduate, Víkingur Heiðar Ólafsson.

The programme begins with a new work, Welcome Harpa , by Þorkell Sigurbjörnsson, followed by Grieg's stunning piano concerto. This brilliant synthesis of classical forms, romantic virtuosity and Norwegian folk tunes has been an audience favourite from the very beginning; its première in Copenhagen was interrupted by applause, and in 1870 the aging virtuoso Franz Liszt gave this advice to the young composer: “Keep composing, for God's sake! You've got what it takes!”

To conclude, Beethoven's Ninth Symphony will be performed under Ashkenazy's direction, with an outstanding cast of soloists and choirs. The magnificent celebration of the human spirit found in the concluding Ode to Joy will undoubtedly be sung with great conviction on this occasion, as Icelandic musicians celebrate the inauguration of the country's first full-scale concert hall.

The cavity of a functional object (chimney) is considered for it’s sound producing qualities.

In the same way, one could consider, playing or performing a building, by walking through it.
