Having one heck of a mental block tonight this week on photos....I have a new series planned but don't want to start it till next week....also this week is oober busy(obviously, its thanksgiving....turkey, baking, shopping, family , friends, etc)............

So i painted my toes....then painted a heart and some dots on paper with my nail polish.....Took out my 50mm lens(its been heavily neglected) and shot this....which was inspired by a photo I had seen on DeviantArt....

I took some wonderful pics at the weekend, with some wonderful new outfits i can't wait to share but still from time to time i come across shots that capture a moment in time and radiate things i love. This shot just captured to me all i love about stiletto heels and fine hosiery (wolford in this case). The poise of the stiletto, it's angle almost a dagger into someone's soul...i hope you find something to enjoy in it too, be it the legs in luxury hose or the rather graceful (who me?) contemplative look ahead... who knows what is around the corner?

I always find beauty in things that are odd and imperfect - they are much more interesting.

Somehow I managed to see a small number of these New Zealand Dotterels on the beach at Waikawau Beach on the Coromandel Penninsular. I guess they must have been nesting as they seemed reluctant to leave a particular area.

So this would have been perfectly on time, except the wifi was down last night! So I am not considering this late. In fact, I shot this really early on in the week! I was done editing it a couple days ago and for whatever reason just was waiting to post it.

I have actually shot multiple things this week, I have another photo from this same location and day and also shot yesterday. However I am pretty sure my shoot yesterday failed miserably. But I really enjoyed this shoot and the other one i did right after, they were much needed and a lot of fun. And especially the second one- was just really relaxing and peaceful and such. Ill try to post in the comments a photo of it if I can ever figure out a website that flickr lets me link to?! (Facebook doesnt show up for whatever reason?)

Going to Stockton lake soon...I better be able to find someone to cover my shifts! I requested off those days like 3 weeks ago and they still scheduled me twice! Im like guys, I will be out of town so I cannot come! Why do you not understand?! But I am going regardless...It is tradition and I wouldnt miss it for a job. quite honestly ill quit first, i think? But I doubt itll come to that. There are plenty of other grillers to ask. But Im so psyched!

The morning sun hit the water perfectly with a hint of cooper hues... giving way to creamy water's.

Photographing a Coot can be challenging, because of their bobbing and weaving about..and never sitting still.

I'd meant to have a lazy day, but instead I accomplished a bunch of little things around the house and tried my hand at making some homemade vegetarian chili for dinner tonight. It smells good, here's hoping it tastes good as well!

Maybe I'll manage a lazy evening after dinner and clean up is done? Maybe.

Seems like Flickr is full of "bad pandas" today; anyone else experiencing trouble with the site, or it just me?

Hope everyone is having a great Sweet Sunday!

Our Daily Challenge ... black trees.

This is a composite of two photos. By the time I had a chance to go out taking photos today, the sky was grey and cloudy ... but still bright enough to silhouette this old She-oak tree near my house. The background sky is a sunset I took at the beach last week. I put the sunset over the silhouettes and set the blending mode in Photoshop to "Multiply" enabling the black trees to show through.

perfectly sunny skies

Perfectly still water and no colour adjustments. I just got lucky.

The perfectly ploughed rows of a winter field stretch out toward the foothills--the sign of a farmer who knows his business and takes pride in his land. Can you believe this is winter? Well, it's our current reality in draught-stricken California. Come spring there will be some tough decisions to make on water allocation. I'm sure the farmer who owns this land doesn't turn out the lights at night without a bit of worry gnawing at his gut. Despite all the worry, it's hard to not take advantage of the beauty that great weather affords a man and his camera. Carpe diem.

Sacramento Valley, Sutter County, CA

I slept in this morning and was pretty confident L517 had passed before I woke up. However thanks to a timely intel assist from Josh Cleary I learned the train was delayed. Bedeviled by a bad order car the road crew expired on hours and had to be relieved by the L506 (transfer) crew east of here at Cylon. The fresh crew got the bad order set out and the train back together, then resumed the trip west to Minnesota. I considered a few options for this rare midday move but given where the clouds ended and the track angle milepost 416 west of town became the obvious choice.

My suspicion that 5341 would be a short timer out here was borne out as it was replaced after just 2 trips. In it's place is BNSF 4043. At least a sharp as a tack SD60 still holds down the west facing end of the lashup. Our warm streak continues as evidenced by the snow cover dropping to about 50%. For full disclosure, there was an automobile removed from the background of this image. New Richmond, WI, March 7, 2021.

The moment was perfectly timed; the shimmering white cloth lifted by the wind, floating, curling, wispy, even smoke like. And the wonderful contrast between the cloth and the black dress. It was an image I had pictured in my mind for months but it was like capturing lightning in a bottle. The stars and planets finally aligned for me, but unfortunately in my excitement I clicked the shutter with the camera still in motion. The shot was ruined, a complete motion blur. Still I couldn't let this one go so took to some artistic processing to preserve the moment.

..and why I actually like it when the sky's not perfectly blue (which I do like, too)
