Is prettily actually a word? For some reason it sounds weird to me.
Reference photo below. I loved the photo so much and really wanted to try painting it. Thank you Patti so much for letting me use your beautiful photo
I'm not too good with foliage and trees. I always seem to overdo them. But nevertheless, I like this painting. I might even put it on my wall. I bought a couple nice frames yesterday and one of them would be perfect for this
A silhouetted dead tree with an eagle, a starling, and two Great Blue herons in its branches.
Iced texture used as a background...
Based upon its horizontal perching behavior, I believe this may be a male meadowhawk dragonfly. I found it perched at the edge of Mud Lake, a small lake found in Leelanau State Park on Michigan's Leelanau Peninsula. Help with more specific identification would be greatly appreciated. I have found trying to photograph dragonflies that zoom my way only to immediately zoom off in another direction, very frustrating. So, hurray for perchers!

I heard this fellow for about 30 minutes, hidden up in a tree singing his heart out. Perserverance paid off, as he finally came down to the back fence for a portrait.

The long-tailed widowbird is a medium-sized bird and one of the most common in the territories it inhabits. Adult breeding males are almost entirely black with orange and white shoulders (epaulettes), long, wide tails, and a bluish-white bill. Females are rather inconspicuous, their feathers streaked tawny and black with pale patches on the chest, breast and back, narrow tail feathers, and horn-coloured bills.
