I often saw Indian cormorants (phalacrocorax fuscicollis) gathered together around the margins of lakes. This bird found a solitary perch looking over a part of the lake choked with water weeds, Photographed in Kanchanaburi, Thailand.
Red-breasted Nuthatch's are a regular visitor to my home. I enjoy sitting on the back deck and listening to the distinctive chatter they make.

The New Brighton Lighthouse was originally known as Perch Rock Lighthouse and construction began in 1827. Since October 1, 1973 it has not been in use as a lighthouse, having been superseded by modern navigational technology. These days the lighthouse is maintained by the Kingham family.
Perch Rock Lighthouse is situated where the river Mersey merges into Liverpool Bay. It sits on a rock that was previously called Black Rock which in 1683 had a 'perch' erected on it by the city of Liverpool to try to stop ships from floundering upon it.
These trees growing at the top of Whiteface Mountain provide a lofty perch for a White Throated Sparrow to sing his song. Happy Tree-mendous Tuesday!

I am note sure what he is smoking - but it may be the reason for the "odd behaviour".

I see loads of Red Kites flying around but very rarely see them perched. So I was pleased with this somewhat distant shot.
This American Kestrel was very eager to pose for his portrait. He was using all his energy to steady himself on the high wire as the strong winds pushed and pulled him. As he scanned the horizon for small prey he caught our eye and posed for this image. This male Kestrel was perching and scanning the ground for prey to ambush. Physically, American kestrels are leaner and less muscular than larger falcons.
A perched American Bald Eagle extended its wings, lowered its head and called to its mate close to a lake in Osceola County near Kenansville, Florida.

Perch Rock Lighthouse, also known as New Brighton Lighthouse or Black Rock Lighthouse, is located near Liverpool in the northwest corner of the Wirral Peninsula in New Brighton, at the mouth of the River Mersey. Perch Rock gets its name from the wooden “perch” that once held the navigational light before the lighthouse. The stone lighthouse, based on John Smeaton’s Eddystone tower, took three years to build and was completed in 1830. The lower part of the 90-foot lighthouse is solid granite, with three stories of living quarters above. The light was automated in 1925 and eventually decommissioned in 1973.
After its decommissioning, the Perch Rock Lighthouse was bought by Norman Kingham with an agreement that he maintain the building. The tower was actually used for a time as a honeymoon suite. It’s possible to walk to the tower at low tide, but access requires climbing a 25-foot ladder to the doorway.
The lighthouse presently emits flashing bursts of light which in Morse Code spell out the names of 176 men, women and children who were lost on board the American emigrant ship Ocean Monarch. The vessel sailed from Liverpool for the United States in 1848. The signal from the lighthouse can only be seen from the inland side, and is visible over a half mile radius during the day and a three mile radius at night.

Despite the name Blue Dasher, the male of this species actually spends a lot of time perched on a vantage point. The dragonfly then dashes out to see off other males or woo a female.
A Little Blue Heron makes his approach to perch on a dead tree branch at the Dry Creek Beds. This image is a combination of two images, masking the bird in flight into the image after it perched. Arilington, Texas, USA, September 2015
