If the doors of perception were cleansed, everything would appear as at is - infinite.
William Blake ( 1757-1827)
English poet
" Depois de todas as tempestades
e dias ensolarados, hoje eu percebo.
Os conceitos e pré-conceitos caem,
e a nuvem que outrora embaçava
minha percepção não mais, me traz medo."
" After all the storms
and sunny days, now I understand.
The concepts and preconceptions fall,
and the cloud that once clouded
My perception is no longer brings me fear. "

Without getting into this too deep...let me just say that perception is an incredible thing! It is all dependent on individuals...and it is not right or wrong. it just is.
what people perceive me to be, depending on who THEY are, is something rather interesting to me...often when i was younger i was shaped by these perceptions, and by my reactions to them. Now that i am (chronologically!) grown up, negative perceptions of me don't effect me quite so much, (as in i do not give a rats patoot) and positive ones just confound me, because my perception of me is so different than theirs!
i need to stop looking thru the hole in the leaf, and only seeing the small part of me....at the very least, it will allow me to attempt to live up to what the positive perceptions of me are. i have several nicknames, that have puzzled me, based on perceptions....given to me by friends. i have not ever seen myself as any of them...maybe it is time to see me thru their eyes.....however, i do not ever think i will understand the nick name "Pickle"!! Perhaps that friend is just plain crazy :)
The weekend cometh.....go forth and enjoy!
Memory Lapses are temporary installations I photograph to revisit places linked to strong memories, past or recent.
By overexposing reflective material in the process, data becomes absent from the digital file, creating an empty zone in the image that alters reality and distorts our perception : like time and distance do.
#5063 - 2021 Day 314: After an extremely stimulating chat this morning with Caroline, and in which I cited this book, I thought I'd find an interesting and alternative way to see the cover. It is called "Perception and Imaging - Photography as a Way of Seeing" by John Suler and Richard D. Zakia.
We are apt to see things for how we know them as objects, what they're called and how we use them. And so we photograph 'things' and places. In my courses we aim to take away labels and to see in the raw, as it were, as a child might see, in terms of visual elements. And what I saw when examining the book from different angles was a mix of colours and lines, with white shapes we would understand as words.
The image on the cover might still be discernible and the words readable, but an oblique viewpoint gives a new perspective and by no means the only one. What have you looked at obliquely today?

Every joy, every treasure, every fulfillment that you could imagine is available to come into your life. It is only your insistence on continuing to need these things that keeps them apart from you.
But the only thing really blocking the pathway is your own perception. Take the first step, and you will see for yourself that the way is clear for you to move forward.
Stop imagining what you need, and start realizing the true and boundless value of what you have. Allow the abundance that is already yours to express itself as the fulfillment of your most magnificent dreams.
Let go of the need to need. And find your own joyous path through the richness that extends in every direction.

Every person has a different view of another person's image. That's all perception. The character of a man, the integrity, that's who you are.
Day 5 of the reveals for the G+ Photo Scavenger Hunt. Category: Perception. For this I thought what is more perceptive than the 10th Doctor? The model is a co-worker of mine that does one of the best 10th Doctor's I've seen. The tardis in the background is one of his miniature collectibles that I took a nice close shot of. @tenthdoctormatt

And then look again. At myself.
Do I know me? or
do I understand myself?
To realize that my own perception of
myself – will define the way
my world looks.
For even the worst things and
those that seems unchangeable –
I only need to change my point of view
and I can face them again.

One last tessellation made with the "flagstone+background" technique I developed! Designed last January, but folded only recently (Jul-Sep 2016), this one would probably be the last work I make using this technique... Perhaps it is now time to switch to something new, isn't it? In the meantime, I am working on explaining in drawings the technique used, by means of examples and all the works done so far. I wish to be able to release this results soon!
Greetings
design: Alessandro Beber, 8 Jan. 2016
folded: Jun-Sep 2016, from a single, uncut, 50cm regular hexagon of StarDream paper
Never take a photograph of something. Make a picture of it! Therefore, you need to see and work with techniques of abstraction. If you are able to see, you can produce images of the reality. Not just photos.

Moods do matter-- It changes the perceptions and the ways of how you perceive and decode the surroundings. This photo is surely not of my style. Having knew by yesterday bad news from my university department, it is surely not a day for travel and photography. Looking down those waterfalls, rushing and falling down, disappearing from the corner of eyes, one could easily glimpse that everything is impermanence and what we actually could do is nothing. Human beings are just so small to against the current. Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

The Perceptions series are manually edited photos. For this particular piece I layered paint on the photographic print, burned a hole through the print, singed nylon tights (for the stretched skin look), and placed a section of a very old American flag (found in an abandoned building) beneath the surface.
