On the right may be seen the start of the climb to Rochers-de-Naye. The golden train in the center is one of the GoldenPass Panoramic trains that travel through the spectacular scenery of the Alps.

From Interlaken East station, a train can be taken to the 'Top of Europe' - Jungfraujoch. The cog railway train ascends to the 3454m (11333 feet) high Jungfraujoch through a tunnel bored through the Eiger and Mönch mountains. Because of the steep ascent, the train stops at a 'station' bored out of the Eiger, so that passengers on the way up can stop and adjust to the height, and thus avoid altitude sickness. The station has openings in the walls from which one can see out over the beautiful surrounding landscape.

The MOB Rochers-De-Naye cog railway starts at Montreux (395m) and rises to 2042m above sea level. At the summit there is a restaurant with magnificent views and a Marmot research centre.

This is one of the cog railway trains that run between Montreux and Rochers-De-Naye.

(This photograph was formerly and incorrectly described as being of a Jungfraubanen train and taken at Interlaken Ost station - see comment from chrchr_75).

On the way back down to Montreux. Note the tunnels protecting the track from avalanches.

Another view of the same trainset. "MVR" stands for Montreux-Vevey-Riviera

This trainset was seen at Montreux station. It is apparently owned by a railway company called 'Transports MVR' but I have not been able to find much information.
