Back up to the top of the drawing to finish off he modillions and pilasters. Just visible, at the extreme top right, is a glimpse of some of the dormer windows on the roof as there were two floors of office rooms accommodated in the roof space. While the window surrounds and cornices were made of stone, the main walls of stone and brick, there was a good deal of concrete and steel also used to good effect for the load bearing floors and window lintels. The builders of 1896-1906 made full use of traditional and modern materials. Drawn with a Staedtler 0.3mm pencil in an A4 cartridge paper sketchbook.
Concept drawing. Divide paper with a line. Choose a theme or concept for two drawings. I chose spring. Landscape "spring" on one side and still life "spring" for the other side. Another idea, for example, might be choosing a winter theme--combining a winter parka with a snow plow. The idea is to integrate, possibly even transform the drawing into something entirely different.
Here, spring. Crocuses blooming (landscape) and pussy willows with nest (still life). Creative synthesis. This prompt is from Trevor Tubelle, artist and instructor, Stanford University Continuing Education. Website: tubelle.com/

The replica Halfiax was built in the 1990s, using both salvaged components, including the centre fuselage section of a crashed aircraft from the Hebrides which had been used as a chicken hut, and newly built parts. It is painted to represent both a Free French squadron aircraft, that flew from Elvington, and LV907, "Friday the 13th". Wearing the code letters NP-F, she might have become F-Freddie but a number of previous Freddies on 158 Squadron had rapidly become casualties so a different name was chosen to break the run of bad luck. Adorned with various lucky charms, including a skull and cross bones, upside down horse shoe, a ladder painted over the crew access door and a broken mirror by the navigator's desk, the aircraft survived a record 128 missions, all flown from RAF Lisset near Bridlington.
A pencildrawing named ''The Storm'' A3 sized. A storm raged through a village with skyscrapers on the background. This creation is made from out my mind.
Another attempt at one of my favourite film actors, Meg Ryan. This is for John, who is also a fan of her movies.

"The Perspective (Greg Metzler)", graphite and ink on drawing board,
16.25" x 19.5"
I'm not certain that this drawing is finished, but it is for now. Hopefully I can at some point get a good scan of it and post some details, but for now this photograph is pretty representative of the piece.
Greg Metzler is a friend who is a marvelous photographer: mainly of nature, but other subjects as far a field as roller derby. He is a long time cancer survivor and a proven friend in time of need.
For me the image is reminiscent of the nature/park settings of paintings by Watteau, such as one also titled The Perspective. The title of the my drawing nods to that painting by Watteau, although it goes in quite a different directions here.

We are fans of the likeable Guy Martin in our house and have enjoyed his latest TV programme on Channel 4, "Great British Power Trip", which looks at how Britain makes its power and why it's so expensive. We first discovered him on "The Boat that Guy Built" in 2011, and "How Britain Worked in 2012". He has an endearing fascination about how everything works.
Here is my attempt at a drawing of him!
Here is some Wikipedia info for you
Guy Martin (born 4 November 1981) is a British former motorcycle racer and heavy vehicle mechanic who became a television presenter. In July 2017, Martin retired from motorcycle racing.
Martin had shown an interest in working on trucks as early as age 12. As a child he was fascinated by engines, and would take apart lawnmowers to try to make them go faster.
Martin starred in Closer to the Edge, a 2011 documentary on TT racing. He has since presented programmes on various engineering topics and the Channel 4 series Speed with Guy Martin when he set speed records in a variety of human and engine powered vehicles. He has authored four books, and competed in mountain bike pedal-cycle races. Uncomfortable with presenting to camera or working from a script, his preferred style is to improvise his dialogue, and work by responding to questions from crew off camera. He later turned down an invitation from Chris Evans to join the new presenting team of the BBC's motoring show, Top Gear.
I started just playing around on a sketchbook page, yesterday, and continued with it today. It’s as finished as it is going to get: no watercolor or colored pencil.
"The Cave - Jim Croegaert", 2023, graphite and ink on a 14” x 14” Schoellerhammer drawing board.
(Updated on 4.10.23 after some re-working of the drawing.)
Jim Croegaert is a Evanston-based musician / singer / song-writer who I've known since the early '90s. This drawing is based on a photo I took during a photo shoot for his latest album. This size and shape of the drawing intentionally points to a certain type of music sharing technology called an "LP".
One of the key conceptual models for this drawing project is Giovanni Bellini's "St. Francis" in the Frick. That reference is perhaps particularly fitting in relation to this drawing.

This is a graphite drawing on museum board, 40 x 60 inches (diptych). It’s in a private collection. I love this drawing and wanted to share it. I’ve been following this artist for decades, having seen an article about him in American Artist. You can see his artworks at his website: www.robevansart.org

Last Platinum Jubilee image from me. We enjoyed watching the Platinum Party on the TV last night and are now watching the Platinum Pageant from the comfort of our home! I have drawn a picture of the young Queen Elizabeth II and in the background are the flags and bunting of a local street party (Henley Road, held on Saturday).
Another back view so I could practise drawing hair. I rather like very loose buns - nothing too severe!

When entering Colorado National Monument from the east entrance, Ute Canyon is the third overlook along Rim Rock Drive. What a spectacular vista this was, with the Book Cliffs in the far distance. Processed for Sliders Sunday.
Located high on the Colorado Plateau near Grand Junction, the Colorado National Monument was established in 1911 and is managed by the National Park Service.
