What's not to like about the Chinese Garden in Singapore? I got this shot of the pavilion while walking around, waiting for the sun to set.

The Pavilion is a state office building next to the Vermont Capitol in Montpelier. It was built in 1971 as a replica of a 1876 hotel that stood on the site until 1969.

The Royal Pavilion is a former royal residence located in Brighton, England,UK. It was built in three stages, beginning in 1787, as a seaside retreat for George, Prince of Wales, who became the Prince Regent in 1811.

Looking back from the dunes, this shot frames the beach pavilion like a stage set under a sky full of texture and depth. The path, looking back from the dunes, frames the beach pavilion like a stage set under a textured, deep sky. The path, wind-shaped grass, and architecture blend to create a scene that feels both structured and naturally lively.

From Wikipedia : "The Royal Pavilion, also known as the Brighton Pavilion, is a Grade I listed former royal residence located in Brighton, England. Beginning in 1787, it was built in three stages as a seaside retreat for George, Prince of Wales, who became the Prince Regent in 1811. It is built in the Indo-Saracenic style prevalent in India for most of the 19th century. The current appearance of the Pavilion, with its domes and minarets, is the work of architect John Nash, who extended the building starting in 1815."

"The purchase of the Royal Pavilion from Queen Victoria, by Brighton, marked the beginnings of the site's attraction as a tourist destination. The Royal Pavilion has been changed from a private residence to a public attraction under civic ownership. Today, around 400,000 people visit the Royal Pavilion annually. General filming and photography is not permitted inside the Royal Pavilion. Many of the items in the palace are on loan, in particular from HM The Queen, and one condition of the loans is that the items cannot be photographed or reproduced without prior written permission."

Kinkaku-ji, also known as the Golden Pavilion, is a Zen Buddhist temple in Kyoto, Japan, renowned for its stunning architecture and cultural significance. Officially named Rokuon-ji, the temple was originally built in 1397 as a retirement villa for Shogun Ashikaga Yoshimitsu. Its most striking feature is the top two floors, which are covered in gold leaf, shimmering brilliantly against the backdrop of a serene pond and lush gardens. The pavilion’s design reflects a harmonious blend of three architectural styles: the first floor in the Shinden style of the Heian period, the second in the samurai-inspired Bukke style, and the third resembling a Chinese Zen hall. Designated as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, Kinkaku-ji is a symbol of Kyoto’s rich history and aesthetic refinement, drawing visitors worldwide to its tranquil grounds.

The temple’s setting enhances its allure, with the Kyoko-chi (Mirror Pond) reflecting the golden structure, creating a picturesque scene that changes with the seasons. The surrounding gardens, meticulously maintained, feature pine trees, stone arrangements, and a small waterfall, embodying Zen principles of simplicity and balance. Historically, the pavilion has faced destruction, notably burning down in 1950 due to arson, but it was meticulously rebuilt in 1955. Today, Kinkaku-ji remains a place of spiritual reflection and cultural pride, offering insight into Japan’s feudal past and Zen Buddhist philosophy while captivating visitors with its radiant beauty and serene atmosphere.

I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving!

My last few weeks have been very busy, including some travel inside and outside of the U.S. This is an image of the light show at Gyeongbokgung Palace in Seoul, South Korea. Thanks to my friend JinHyeock Choi for being such a great host, and showing me around downtown Seoul!

Probably nobody knows when this black pavilion was originally built and how many times it has been damaged and rebuilt. It was recorded to be rebuilt in 1726 (the 4th year of Yongzheng era) by local governor Li Wei. During his first visit to Hangzhou in 1751, Emperor Qianlong had a millitary parade by West Lake and reviewed his soldiers in this pavillion.

Jay Pritzker Music Pavilion is a bandshell in Millennium Park in the Loop community area of Chicago.

Pritzker Pavilion serves as the centerpiece for Millennium Park and is the new home of the Grant Park Symphony Orchestra and Chorus and the Grant Park Music Festival, the nation's only remaining free outdoor classical music series. It also hosts a wide range of music series and annual performing arts events. Performers ranging from mainstream rock bands to classical musicians and opera singers have appeared at the pavilion, which even hosts physical fitness activities such as yoga. All rehearsals at the pavilion are open to the public; trained guides are available for the music festival rehearsals, which are well-attended.

Good morning everyone. Here is a photo from the Germany Pavilion over at the World Showcase in Epcot. Like I mentioned, I haven't had the free time to do a lot of editing, especially finding my car to have all 4 wheels stolen this weekend. Anyways, Once I get back in the groove of things, I'll be sure to edit some more. In the meantime, I hope you enjoy and thanks for looking.

All day there were strong winds and fluffy clouds sailing by, so as the sun set I hoped to capture some of that movement with a long exposure of Brighton Pavilion.

Most of the clouds seemed to pass by to the right, which was frustrating, but I did eventually get some trails that emanated from the pavilion.

For this I used a 2 stop hard edged filter and a 3 stop filter.

The Imperial Throne Pavilion is the first and usually only building in the Imperial City that a petitioner to the Emperor would encounter. Built mostly in the 19th century during the Nguyễn dynasty, the Citadel and the Imperial City was patterned after the Forbidden City in Bejing, China. The site suffered extensive damage during the Vietnam War and is still undergoing restoration or reconstruction.
