Walking up the dirt road in the lowest part of Titus Canyon in Death Valley

Lion, Buffalo ... ?

I've always loved shades of green and thought this was cool.

Some days I see objects and living creatures. Other days I just see patterns and shapes. Have a great week everyone!

Danum Valley, Malaysia

The jungle is filled with amazing things, sometimes all you need to do to see it is stop and examine your surroundings and things you might have just walked right by become apparent. Leafs like this were common and in my opinion quite pretty as well. I don't know if the damage to the leaf was fungal or caused by insects but I think the left over veins of the leaf made a beautiful pattern.

Inspired by eilonwy77's cheese-wedge patterns, particularly this one. Drawn in InkScape.

I haven't the patience or parts to put this together myself, so I sketched it :)

“Rectangular Patterns (Horizontal)” — Patterns formed by light, paint, shadows, and structure on an urban building.

This is one of a pair of photographs of the same structure. I’ll bet you might not be surprised to hear that the companion photograph is called “Rectangular Pattern (Vertical).” Working on this pair got me to thinking about a series that I might call “Urban Geometries” featuring such photographs, both from my existing archives and from some new work. You can look at this as a photograph of a real scene or, if you work at it, you may be able to see it as an abstract composition of forms and colors.

The location is an area that was acquired by a (very) big company for a huge future corporate campus. Then came the pandemic. Now their plans appear to be on hold, though they still hold rights to the properties. I suspect, but do not know for certain, that they did some “sprucing up” of the area to avoid charges that they are allowing it to degrade. Right now it is largely a sort of urban dead zone… though it has nice paint.

It always amazers me the detail you can find in nature.

It's that time of year. Cotton candy, funnel cakes and Ferris wheel rides on a soft spring evening.

Once this small hospital somewhere in Italy was a shelter for children that were suffering from lung diseases. The remote location in the mountains and the numerous surrounding forests are providing healthy air which was necessary to treat tuberculosis and other diseases. In the 1930s this facility was opened.

The property with lavishly laid out garden offered enough space for a great number of children. This was a facility of the church, so especially nuns were nursing the sick.

Taken during a walk in the woods around San Zeno di Montagna, where my family lives. The bright green leaves in the center captured my attention...

A new (to me) slopes and headlight bricks pattern. It was actually kind of tricky to figure out...

PLEASE ... If this is already a tangle, let me know and I will remove.
