James Spaeth, Warren County clerk of courts, reads Dr. Werner U. Spitz, a world-renowned known forensic pathologist, testimony from the second Ryan Widmer trial on Monday. Spitz testified for the defense during the first two trials but could not attend the current trial for medical reasons. Monday is the 11th day of Ryan Widmer's murder trial in Judge Neal Bronson's Warren County courtroom.
This is the third time Widmer has been to trial in the death of his wife Sarah Widmer. The first two were mistrials. He is accused of drowning her in their bathtub in 2008. Photo shot Monday February 7, 2011. The Enquirer/Cara Owsley
Villa Della Porta Bozzolo is a villa located at Casalzuigno in the Italian province of Varese. It was donated by the heirs of the Italian senator and pathologist Camillo Bozzolo to the Fondo per l'Ambiente Italiano—the National Trust of Italy—who now manage it
It was built in the 16th century and used as a rural villa and later an aristocratic residence. In the 18th century an impressive Italian garden was added with stairs, fountains, water features and an aedicula decorated with frescoes. Around the villa there are interesting rustic elements, such as a representation of an olive press containing a cycle of rococo frescoes from the workshop of Pietro Antonio Magatti, a painter from Varese.
At the end of the 17th century the villa experienced one of its most important transformations on the initiative of Gian Angelo Della Porta III on the occasion of his marriage to Isabella, daughter of Count Giorgio Giulini. With the assistance of an unknown architect, he set the main axis of the garden parallel to the side of the house—thus contravening the classic rules under which the principal axis must be aligned with the main room of the house, dividing the garden into two symmetrical parts. In 1723, he also built an elaborate fountain, designed by the architect Pellegatta.

The Postcard
A postally unused Frith's Series pre-1918 postcard. They have spelt 'Headbourne' incorrectly.
Headbourne Worthy
Headbourne Worthy (formerly Worthy Mortimer) is a village and former manor within the City of Winchester, Hampshire, England. The parish also includes the former manor of Worthy Pauncefoot.
Laurence Olivier and Vivien Leigh lived in a bungalow on School Lane called 'The Headlands' during World War II when Olivier was stationed at Worthy Down with the Fleet Air Arm.
Lt. Gen. Sir Henry Edward Burstall (1870-1945), a Canadian General who fought in the Boer and Great Wars, settled in England in 1925 and died in the village. The town of Burstall, Saskatchewan in Canada is named after him.
The Earthquake
On the 27th. January 2015 at 18:30, Headbourne Worthy was the epicentre of a tremor of magnitude 2.9 at a depth of 3 km.
No injuries or serious damage was reported, but everyone in the village felt the extraordinary quake which could be felt as far afield as Southampton.
St. Swithun's Church
The Grade I Listed St. Swithun's parish church (shown in the photo) dates from the 11th. century, and is particularly noted for its 11th. century rood on the outside of the original west wall.
What remains of the stone carving, which was vandalised at the time of the Reformation, depicts the crucified Christ, St. Mary the Virgin and St. John.
The church sits on an island, surrounded by chalk streams, to the west of Worthy Lane. The graveyard to the south extends to School Lane. In 2012 an oak tree was planted in the churchyard to commemorate the Queen's diamond jubilee.
A Friend of St Swithun's carried out a great deal of clearance and conservation work in the churchyard, the burial ground, the dell and the pathways to School Lane and London Road in 2012/2013 and continues to maintain the grounds.
The Worthys Conservation Volunteers carried out extensive habitat conservation work in the 'scrub' area to the north of the churchyard in 2013. The group opposes controversial plans to build a car park to the south of the church.
A 3.5 acre parcel of land known as Chisslands has been owned by the church since time immemorial. This parcel of land is to be sold to the developer of the Barton Farm estate for a substantial sum which will provide the church with capital for church maintenance for many years to come.
There is a service every Sunday at 10:00 am using a traditional form of worship according to the Book of Common Prayer.
Notable Burials
Joseph Bingham (1668-1723) was rector of St Swithun's (1695-1712). He was appointed to the living after accusations of heresy in Oxford. He is famous for his ten volume book, Antiquities of the Christian Church. He is buried at the east end of the church.
Sir John McNee (1887-1984), physician and pathologist, who carried out pioneering research into the liver and spleen and was physician to the Queen from 1952 to 1954, is buried in the churchyard of St Swithun's.
The Ven. Arthur Winnington-Ingram (priest) (1888-1965), Archdeacon of Hereford (1942-1958), whose father was also Archdeacon of Hereford and whose uncle (Arthur Winnington-Ingram) was Bishop of London, is buried in the churchyard.
Forest pathologist Jim Hadfield gathers information during a hazard tree evaluation by sounding the tree with a rubber mallet. Sounding can rapidly provide information about a tree's structural condition.
