Path, New York

Only need to figure out what to do with the handlebar. Grips or cork tape?

Yes, there really is a cliff just to the right of this view, but not overlooking the sea. These are effectively the backs of houses in Jesmond Road, Clevedon, enjoying a superb view to the south. Parallel with the path is precipitous drop into what used to be Hangstone Quarry. The houses were built by W A Green in the period 1895-1905 and have some very fine details, some of which are visible here: decorative terracotta tiles on the window bays, patterned roofing tiles and elaborate woodwork on the gable ends (thanks to Derek Lilly's Builders of Clevedon for this information). Photograph taken Saturday 12th October 2002.

(Our Daily Challenge: Paths/Pavements)

“Nobody can build the bridge for you to walk across the river of life, no one but you yourself alone. There are, to be sure, countless paths and bridges and demi-gods which would carry you across this river; but only at the cost of yourself; you would pawn yourself and lose. There is in the world only one way, on which nobody can go, except you: where does it lead? Do not ask, go along with it.”

Dead End #15 | Highway panels by João Louro

People come into our lives everyday. Some stay forever, some leave after a while … and some, just cross paths with us momentarily, but leave a mark so significant, it forever stays in our hearts …

“Crossing Paths” is a rustic collection of nick nacks … a miniature book, an old key, different stones … some shiny, some not so, antique brass chains, entwined fiber, coffee stained paper, resin-ed miniature music notes, bits of old lace and leather, all put together to form a chunky bracelet from yesteryears.

*the miniature book is handmade by me and measures 2cm x 2.5cm

*the papers in the miniature book are coffee stained

*the whole length of the bracelet measures 23 inches, and made to wrap round the wrist 3 times.

*the back is secured by a giant lobster clasp

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden black.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.
