Finally got the patches I designed & ordered for the group! Colors turned out a little weird, but the stitch quality is fantastic!
I took this at the famous Bates Nut Farm Pumpkin Patch. At the farm you can experience the fall harvest with the colors, scents, tastes and sounds found on their 100 acres. You can also shop for pumpkins, squash and gourds in a variety of shapes, colors and sizes. Bates Nut Farm also has numerous activities including hay rides, straw maze, pony rides and farm zoo.

For a few years we’ve driven (and hundreds of others each day) passed a patch of the invasive non-native species Himalayan balsam before entering the Duffryn Estate in Newport. As part of the Big Lottery Wales-funded Create Your Space project Woodland Routes To Wellbeing, we decided that we would tackle this area. On this day, we had two volunteers and they were taught about Himalayan balsam; how it grows, how it spreads, its impact upon reducing plant biodiversity and how that impacts negatively upon animal biodiversity through the food chain. However, they were also taught how the plant is beneficial for bees and the philosophical dilemma of removal against non-removal. Very quickly, both volunteers developed amazement of the plant and cleared 460 m2 of which 60m2 was totally dominated by it. We were honked and thanked by one passing motorist, who said he also tackles the plant. We also found that it had spread onto adjacent land behind a large fence. It was a taster of what could be achieved next year with more volunteers and some more permissions.
Patch is one of our pups that lives nearby. His mom and dad are off to Hawaii and Patch got to come home for a week! He is a sweet,sweet boy that has been raised with loads of love and gentleness - he just is so sweet!
