CSX C670-26 begins its assault of the “west slope” of. Sand Patch Grade just west of Meyersdale. This train would be powered by a duo of SD70MACs, the trailing of which looked reasonably fresh.

Each year, the Great Pumpkin rises out of the pumpkin patch that he thinks is the most sincere. He's gotta pick this one. He's got to. I don't see how a pumpkin patch can be more sincere than this one. You can look around and there's not a sign of hypocrisy. Nothing but sincerity as far as the eye can see.

Steamtown's "Pumpkin Patch Special" is stopped at the station. While a full trainload of passengers are de-boarding, some crew members are talking things over. DL&W F3A-664 & NKP GP9-514 are on the point.

Clean and shiny like a brand new penny!

Patch and I were enjoying the relaxing sounds of a light rain. (Heavy rain and she's hiding under furniture!)

Playing with a new camera I got from my son. A little Canon EOS M3 mirrorless body and interchangeable lenses. Manual functions. I need to get a viewfinder for it though...not one to look at a screen to take a shot.

Thanks for taking a look

His name is Patch and he probably won't be giving those ears back.

He has found another great place to hang out in the backyard. Right in the middle of the dark Purple German Bearded Iris patch. They are still short and growing, but eventually he will be completely hidden in this patch of Irises and some Day Lilys. Here he can chace the grasshoppers and other bugs and stay cool and hidden. A perfect place for a big cat.

Shot using a Super-Multi-Coated Macro Takumar 50mm f4.

this lens is so versatile and easy to use. And its still bitingly sharp for being made in the early 1970's!

Zoom into his eyes and nose to see the detail captured. One of my favorite manual lenses.

Little Miss Nora had fun at the pumpkin patch today. :)

This is the Teasel Patch I used to capture all the macros in. It was a good sized patch with many plants easily over 6 foot tall. Lucky for me there were some closer to the ground that still had some flowers on them.

I think this is Yellow Patch (Amanita flavoconia) mushroom.

Photo taken hand-held. Amazingly, I was able to align and focus stack 9 photos, one of which had to be manually moved and masked. Then, I used a touch of an AI brush to clean up the mess between the focus and out of focus layers. HSS!

In early May 2011, a US 30 roadtrip across Nebraska on a beautiful spring day brought me and a friend to the pedestrian bridge across the UP's triple track Kearney Sub at Lexington. You don't have to wait long to see a train. First up was an eastbound coal load with a patched SP unit on the rear. In the distance, the headlight of a westbound is already in sight.

Even though they were patched for new owner Norfolk Southern, the blue beasts were still a nice sight when compared to that monochromatic thing third out.

Wearing patches over its DMIR paint, EJ&E SD-M #804 sits at Kirk awaiting its next job. Built as DMIR SD9 #169 in April 1959, this unit now works for IBCX.

A heavy fog descended on us this morning creating an interesting solid bluish backdrop to everything at first morning light. That "blue wall" is normally a free view over the sea to another shoreline 4 km away so it is very unusual to see it like this and I don't expect it to happen in the exact same way again. This lamppost with its yellow lights pointed at the green lawn below made for a weird and unusual combination of colours. I wasn't able to find a way to overcome the ugly circular artefacts introduced by the flickr algorithms but luckily they do not show up in the print.

Three EMD SD50-2's and a CSX AC44CW work the north end of McGrew yard shortly after sunrise. In recent times LSRC has been purchasing new units and they have been a mixed bag of patched CSX and NS units and also a few painted units. I will give LSRC credit though as they do patch their units very well.
